Couldn't resist this shot of hub caps spotted in the country side of British Columbia. Loved the memories they brought back to me I especially like the lighting on the tree leaves.....

Working in the field of fashion jewellery design I am always looking for new, unusual or weird material to be suitable for my objects. Therefore the esthetic design and colours of the Nespresso caps caught my eye.
Furthermore these capsules are made of aluminium and it was always my intention to recycle products made of material which might pollute our environment. The result was the creation of fashion jewellery objects in different design. That way I can make a small contribution to maintain a clean and sane environment.

A quick, fun, gratifying project! This hat had a few different elements to it, like the shaping, cables and brim, that kept it interesting. I extended mine about two extra cable turnings to accomodate my sister-in-law's hair (she was the intended recipient and she covers all of her hair when she's in public). The yarn did put out fluff and pills while I was knitting with it, but mostly it was very soft and lofty. The SIL said the finished project was so light and comfortable, she didn't even feel like she had anything on her head! That is a true measure of success.
Juliet’s Log - Monday 9th
Visited Collioure today which turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. Took the unusual decision of going on a boat trip from there to Argeles, back to Collioure, Port Vendres, Banyuls Bay and back. At a cost of €20 and about 30 min of the 1 1/2 hours sitting in ports picking up passengers we thought it a bit of a rip off but pleasant nevertheless. The coastline was not as pretty as Cornwall. Had the doubtful pleasure of seeing a lot of small fish (possibly anchovy) being brought to the surface by food. The town was exceptionally busy and parking a nightmare
Bought some anchovies in the town and returned for a swim.

The Red-capped Parrot (Purpureicephalus spurius), also called the Pileated Parakeet[1] (leading to easy confusion with the South American Pionopsitta pileata), and King Parrot locally in Western Australia,[2] is an Australian species of broad-tailed parrot related to the Rosellas.
First described by German naturalist Heinrich Kuhl in 1820, from a collection in Albany, Western Australia,[3] the Red-capped Parrot was placed in the monotypic genus Purpureicephalus by Charles Lucien Bonaparte in 1854. The generic name is an amalgam of the Latin purpureus "purple", and the Ancient Greek kephalos "head". The specific epithet spurius is the Latin adjective meaning "illegitimate", and refers to the very different adult and immature plumages (hence appearing unrelated).[3] Besides Red-capped Parrot, vernacular names include Pileated Parrot, Western King Parrot, Purple-crowned Parrot, Grey Parrot or Hookbill.[3]
Measuring 34–38 cm (14–15 in) in length and weighing 105–125 g, the adult Red-capped Parrot is a distinctive and easily recognised medium-sized parrot. The adult male has a crimson crown, grey-brown lores, and green-yellow cheeks and a narrow long upper mandible. The upperparts are dark green, the rump yellow-green, the tail green with dark blue tip.[3] The underparts are purplish-blue and the flanks green and red. The female is similar but duller overall, and the juvenile has a dark green crown, reddish frontal band, and red-brown underparts.[4]
The species occurs from the Moore River southwards in southwestern Australia. Its natural habitat is Marri (Corymbia calophylla), but has adpated to farmland, orchards and suburban landscapes in Perth.[4]
Marri seeds are the preferred diet, but birds also extract seeds from Karri (Eucalyptus marginata), woody pear (Xylomelum), Grevillea, Hakea, and She-oak (Casuarina), as well as insects such as psyllids, and even orchard fruit such as apples and pears.[4]
The breeding season is August to December, the nest is a tree hollow, and a clutch of five white eggs is laid.

Le cap Khoboï se trouve tout au nord de l’île d’Olkhone. Le mot « khoboï » signifie en bouriate « croc, dent mâchelière ». Il est vrai que les contours du cap ressemblent à un croc.
