Pattern: Syncopated Cap by Kate Gilbert from Interweave Knits Summer 2007
Recipient: Mauricio, my boot camp instructor
Details: on Ravelry
This was a pretty fast knit and not too difficult. It was a little monotonous in the middle but once the decreases began it was fine. The gradations of green worked out really nicely and I like that the colors brighten up near the crown. I'm happy with the way it turned out and I hope the recipient will like it too!
(Vireo atricapilla)- The Black-capped Vireo, native to the United States and Mexico. It has been listed as an endangered species in the United States. in mature males are olive green above and white below with faint yellow flanks. The crown and upper half of the head is black with a partial white eye-ring and lores. The iris is brownish-red and the bill is black. Females are duller in color than males and have a slate gray crown and underparts washed with greenish yellow.
A seeded watermelon slice appliqued on a soft white felt pillow (inspired by my day dreams of summer). Generously stuffed with polyfill. 11" diameter.
This pillow is a one of a kind item. I may repeat the style but there will never be two alike.
The felt is 100% recycled made from post consumer water bottles.
