In the heart of Puerto Nariño, Colombia, a haven within the Amazon, I had the privilege to photograph the Red-capped Cardinal (Paroaria gularis). This small, yet striking bird, with its vibrant red head set against a monochrome body, was a stark contrast to the lush green backdrop of its habitat. The way it perched, almost posing, amidst the natural environment highlighted the unique and captivating biodiversity of this region.
Capturing this image was a blend of timing, light, and the bird's natural grace. The cardinal's vivid colors required careful attention to exposure, ensuring that the vibrant reds and deep blacks were faithfully represented without overpowering the softer greens of the surroundings. This photograph is a celebration of the simple yet profound beauty found in nature, and as a photographer, it represents the continual pursuit of those fleeting moments where color, light, and subject align perfectly. It's a reminder of the importance of preserving these natural wonders and the stories they tell.

Widespread and uncommon to fairly common resident of Malaysia. Small bird, fast moving in dark area of the forest, make photographing this species is a challenge.

A Macaw at Parrot Jungle has a cap of light on it's head from above. I don't know what kind of Macaw this is but it's a beautiful bird.

Candid eye contact street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. His unusual smooth leather cap caught my eye and his eyes appear to have caught my lens. Enjoy!
FAQ: Do people say anything to you?
Very rarely. Most frequently I get a positive response, a smile as if feeling flattered and occasionally a 'did she just take my photo' comment as they walk away. I stand my ground, I hide in plain sight with a large DLSR and make it obvious what I am doing. Confidence is key. If you look confident you are much less likely to ever be challenged.

The quaint hotel we stayed at in Old Quebec city. We were in the heart of so much Canadian history, highly recommended place to visit. Like being in France. This is the Cap Diamant Hotel, built in 1826, it has 9 rooms, very comfortable place to stay, it has been family owned since the '60's (1960's not the 18's).
Deventer Op Stelten (‘Deventer on stilts’)
Teatro del Silencio with the intense, itinerant show "Cap au Cimetière".
For more than twenty years the historic town of Deventer in the Netherlands has celebrated culture and arts on the streets. While ‘Op Stelten’ (‘on stilts’) is now used largely as a figurative sense, the performers are truly of the highest level and come from all over Europe. During the international outdoor-theatre festival ‘Deventer Op Stelten’, Deventer turns into a giant open air theatre with over 150 national and international top performances in the historic city centre of Deventer at 20 locations in- and around the centre.
The main campus of Capilano University in North Vancouver enrolls about 11,500 students each year. This is Cap U Lonsdale Campus, a small, six class campus for continuing studies, overlooking the Lonsdale Quay, the Pier and a view of Vancouver across the water. I walk down here quite often but never really noticed the reflections in the windows before.
I will be off Flickr for a few days - see you when I get back....
