Adding a splash of bright colour to the green grass this Red Wax Cap (Hygrocybe coccinea) certainly stands out. The hole in the cap would seem to indicate the slugs like them too, but it does rather look like a skull is trying to escape!

Illinois Central SW14 1200 is the oldest unit on Canadian National's locomotive roster - or it was, until it was sold recently. It's sitting outside the Fond du Lac roundhouse with other switchers, also sold and off the CN roster. Stacks are capped with Menards five-gallon buckets, leading one to wonder if the buyer received an 11% rebate.

Le cap Fréhel constitue une réserve ornithologique le long de la Côte d'Émeraude. Il est situé à 8,5 km du centre de Fréhel et à 4 km du centre de Plévenon, compte parmi les plus impressionnants de Bretagne : la falaise domine la mer d'environ 70 mètres. Un sentier entre les bruyères et les ajoncs, intégré au GR 34, fait le tour du cap. Par temps clair on peut distinguer les îles Anglo-Normandes de Jersey.

Black-Capped Chickadee.
Between 4 3/4 to 5 3/4 inches long. Black cap and throat, white cheesk, gray back and dull white underparts. Wing feathers narrowly and indistinctly edged with white.
They can be found in deciduous and mixed forests, and open woodlands and suburban areas in winter.
They range from Alaska east across Canada to Newfoundland, and south to northern California, northern New Mexico, Missouri and northern New jersy. Winters south to Maryland and Texas.
