I confirmed this on Panasonic's site although I'm not sure exactly what it is used for. It does have both capacitance and resistance but no continuity. I fooled around with measuring with both cap and res varying the temperature and got jumpy, but measurable changes in cap and res so I'm leaning to something like a temperature or overheat sensor. Not really sure since I cannot find a datasheet for this little monkey.

A continuation of my lighting design project development. Shown in the top left are select samples of experiments made from the modular triangular form seen on the first development board. In addition I have included select images of my three dimensional exploration with paper. I then decided to use directional lighting to observe how light pays on different forms and how it changes the viewer's interpretation of form. I then used filtered and coloured light to add texture to plane white forms. Also included here is a sample of my work with an integrated circuit and Arduino to create different capacitive touch sensors which could be incorporated into the final design. The Arduino version is the most useful and is shown functioning here. The board is programmed to send a squire wave from pin four and record the time it take to reach pin 2 in program ticks. The copper foil and any other conductive material, for example a finger, act as a capacitor, slowing the return time which is recorded every time. Therefore, the more you touch it, the higher the capacitance and the higher the return value. It can then be programmed to take action once the value exceeds a specified level allowing me to use it through materials, at a distance or as a proximity sensor as well as adjusting it for stray capacitance.
