Croome Park is a landscaped country park surrounding Croome Court, in Worcestershire. It was Lancelot 'Capability' Brown's first complete landscape design, begun in 1751 for George Coventry, 6th Earl of Coventry. The mansion house was also designed by Brown and is a rare example of his architectural work.

The Court has recently been acquired by the National Trust and is currently being renovated.

Croome Court is a grade 1 listed building.

Communications capability was the primary focus for more than 50 Soldiers from the 29th Combat Aviation Brigade during their two-week annual training at Fort Indiantown Gap. In an elaborate configuration of tents, generators and specialized trailers, Maryland National Guard Soldiers set up classified and non-classified computer networks, switches, and routers all in a field environment.

Part of one of the mostly concealed Verney monuments that remain in the disused chapel at Compton Verney.

Compton Verney's Chapel was built in 1772 by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown to replace the medieval church that stood by the lake nearby. It has not been used for services since the Verney family left in 1921.

Inside the rectangular room has plaster decoration influenced by Robert Adam's work. The main items of interest are the Verney monuments including a large centrally placed tomb with effigies of Sir Richard & wife by Nicholas Stone c1630. However given the long term disuse of the building most of the monuments have been boxed in for protection. They will remain hidden until funding is found to restore and re-open the chapel as part of the visitor attraction here,

The 16th century glass once contained here was sold in the 1920s and is now in New York. Nobody seems to know what's become of the brasses. They may still be there under all the clutter that the building's mothballed state has generated.

Compton Verney House stands in a beautiful setting overlooking a lake. The grounds were landscaped by Capability Brown who also built the chapel.

The House itself is largely the work of Robert Adam, who in the 1760s who added extra ranges to an existing west range of 1714,

From the early 20th century the house passed through various owners, and after requisitioning in World War II was never lived in again, and thus remained in a state of disuse, slowly falling apart, until rescued and converted into a highly successful art gallery in the 1990s.

The house is now almost fully restored and in use. The chapel however remains closed and awaits proper restoration.

Croome Court was transformed in the second half of the 18th-century, the house refaced and the grounds landscaped to satisfy the Palladian vision of Robert Adam and Lancelot "Capability" Brown.

Since that time Croome has been many things, including the wartime home of RAF Defford and radar research and, later, of the Hare Krishna movement.

State Senator Bryce E. Reeves, R-Spotsylvania, and Delegate Richard L. Anderson, R-District 51, visit Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to the Fredericksburg-based 116th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team as they conduct a live fire range with the MK-19 grenade launcher and prepare for a situational training lane during annual training June 24, 2014, at Fort Pickett, Va. Reeves and Anderson co-chair the Virginia General Assembly Military and Veterans Caucus. The live fire and training lane are part of the 10-day eXportable Combat Training Capability rotation designed to train and validate platoons on tasks that support offensive and defensive operations under daylight and hours of limited visibility. Units will concentrate on training selected mission essential tasks in a realistic field environment to refocus junior leaders on tactical field craft. The Army National Guard’s XCTC program provides an experience similar to a Combat Training Center to Guard Soldiers at a home station training center, minimizing cost and time away from home and jobs. ATLANTIC FUTURE FORUM 2022

The 2022 Atlantic Future Forum (AFF) took place on board HMS Queen Elizabeth, Thursday 29th September at anchor off New York City during her deployment to the USA.

The event, two day conference, brings together the brightest minds and most influential thinkers-from defence and beyond-to strengthen the US-UK special relationship and encourage collaboration between the public and private sector. Through a series of keynote speeches and panel discussions, the Forum will explore how both private and public sector and US and UK interests can work together to maximise the opportunities – and mitigate the risks – posed by current and future technologies.

The Forum will be an opportunity for senior politicians, policymakers, military leaders and academia, together with business leaders and entrepreneurs to discuss the new dimensions of international security and the future technologies which will define the next decade and beyond.

The Forum will be led by the Department for International Trade (DIT), working alongside the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) to strengthen the trade and economic pillars of the Euro-Atlantic alliance and reinforce our security and defence partnerships with like-minded, democratic allies. The AFF is chaired by Lord Sedwill and will be co-hosted by the First Sea Lord, Admiral Sir Ben Key and HM Ambassador Dame Karen Pierce.

HMS Queen Elizabeth sailed from Portsmouth on the 7th September 2022 for New York, United States of America, to host Atlantic Future Forum before continuing on operations.

Claremont is a beautiful garden surrounding a small lake and featuring an unusual grass amphitheatre. The garden's creation and development has involved great names in garden history, including Sir John Vanbrugh, Charles Bridgeman, William Kent and 'Capability' Brown. In 1726 it was described as 'the noblest of any in Europe' and the garden today is of national importance. Visitors walking round the lake will see the island and pavilion, grotto and many viewpoints and vistas. There are hidden features to enjoy as well as wider estate walks and a new children's play area.

Poster Overview:

The station keeping capability of Dynamic Positioning (DP) is the ability of a marine vessel to maintain its position and the heading in a fixed location by exclusively using thrusters.

In current state-of-art, DP is achieved through constructing vessel models using first principals of physics and simulating with DP software under various types of sea conditions. As modern sea vessels become increasingly complex, modelling and simulating each and every vessel can be tedious, time-consuming and costly.

In this research, a basic framework for an autonomous, data-driven DP system is presented. An Artificial Immune Systems (AIS) based Receptor Density Algorithm (RDA) is proposed to monitor the deviations from the set limits and Spiking Neural Network (SNN) is introduced to counter the detected deviations autonomously. The proposed system ensures a generic solution which is readily applicable to a wide variety of vessel models

With over 1,800 acres of parkland designed by Capability Brown, the house and its grounds were created as an homage to Italy, the country so beloved by Frederick Augustus Hervey, the 4th Earl of Bristol. The Earl-Bishop spent his life travelling the continent, gathering together a vast collection of paintings, sculpture and artefacts. Already possessed of several houses, he conceived Ickworth primarily as a museum for his treasures. At his death only the Rotunda - the giant circular structure at the centre of the two wings, described by Hervey's wife as 'a stupendous moment of Folly' - was nearing completion. The house was eventually finished by his son. Although Hervey's treasures, confiscated during the French invasion of Italy, were destined never to occupy Ickworth, his descendants made it their life's work to rebuild what has become an exceptional collection of art and silver. Paintings housed in the galleries include works by Velázquez, Titian and Poussin, while the collection of 18th-century portraits of the family is exceptionally fine, featuring canvases by Gainsborough, Reynolds, Vigée-Lebrun and Hogarth. In addition to one of the very best British collections of Georgian Huguenot silver, Ickworth is also home to an impressive array of Regency furniture, porcelain, and domestic objects. More made a career of producing idealised Italian landscapes. His Landscape with Classical Figures, Cicero at his Villa, painted in 1780 and funded in 1993, is a typical work, the misty soft-focus and pastel light adding to its appeal. Hugh Douglas Hamilton's The Earl Bishop of Bristol and Derry Seated before the Prospect of Rome shows Hervey seated at what is thought to be the southern tip of the Borghese Gardens.

Ickworth's parklands and gardens can provide a day's activity in their own right. The south gardens are modelled on the formal Italian style, while the gardens to the west of the house are more informal. Visitors can walk or cycle out into the park itself and up to the Fairy Lake. Bright and modern, The West Wing Restaurant overlooks the gardens and can be guaranteed to catch any sunlight on offer. It serves everything from hot meals to snacks, and at weekends the restaurant is open for breakfast. If you're after something rather more formal, try Frederick's restaurant at Ickworth Hotel in the grounds.
