It used to be boat sheds until the smaller one (a grey one out of frame) collapsed last year). I was quite surprised to see the other one fall down as it looked in better condition that the one that's still standing. Still love this scene!
Remember those overcast shots from last weekend...This was earlier in the day! Found this neat little spot along the river, the colours were utterly spectacular. Really not sure if this shot does it justice. I had to upload a large version as my usual size was over-sharpened to the point of stupidity by flickr!
Happy Fenced Friday everyone!
A great weekend ahead to all!
Thanks to all of you for making this my very first 99+ faves! I am having a canvas print made!

I was taking a snowy walk in a park near my home, hoping to get a few shots of the 8 deer which are wintering on the park's public golf course. Though I had seen 4 of the deer, I couldn't get a good shot and had given up and was just continuing on my walk. I rounded a corner onto the path that follows the river when what to my wondering eyes should appear but a snowy sand bar and 15 tiny little deer!
For people who are counting -- yes, there were 15 ;-) I wish I had a more powerful telephoto for a closer photo but, still, I was thrilled to get this shot. These deer are from the other side of the river since the sand bar is not connected to the park side. There was something kind of magical about seeing them, to me, anyway.
[Actually, I looked at a map and it seems it was an island the deer were on but the river is frozen over on the far side of it, allowing the deer to walk onto it.]

Actually, it's only a partially frozen river. The temperature has been above freezing, even overnight, for a few days now and the ice is thawing. You can see several open sections about halfway down the image. With most of the snow gone from the river ice, it gives a nice reflection of light.
Spotted the little fairground was in town on the way to the Vets on Saturday, it was good an opportunity not to go back and take some photos.
This Common Yellowthroat (m) is partially hidden but easily heard.

Rows and flows of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I've looked at clouds that way

No boating on the lake at this time of year! I have shot this boat house a few times in the past, usually in Autumn rather than Winter so it was nice to get a fresh take on it. That's it Jeff, my three shots from yesterday, I may offer up an alternative composition of the red barn, other than that you will have to wait until I drag myself out of the house again :o)
A Long-eared Owl in it's daytime roost, stares down at me as I walked past. I moved slowly back to find an opening to see the owl between the branches, while it calmly watched.I got a few pics and left it to snooze in the tree. A really cool view of nature that left me invigorated.
This Long-eared Owl watches me as I move into position to get an open shot. After the privilege of this nature encounter I left the Owl to continue it's afternoon nap.

I returned to the area I had seen the previous Long-eared Owl. This one was a smaller bird and tucked deep into trees with a narrow lane to grab a photo.
This Yellow Warbler darts among the branches. Found at Long Point Prov Park during the spring migration.
