The University of Bristol Canoe Club hosted a canoe polo tournament on Saturday. I don't play polo but went and took lots of photos!

Tribal Canoe Journeys of Pacific Northwest Native American Tribes, a significant cultural event that takes place once a year.

The Puyallup Tribe of Washington State was the host tribe for 2018 for all the Canoes sent by other tribes along the Pacific Northwest Coast. Tribes all along the coast traveled via paddling their traditional Ocean Canoes, beautiful, functional and ornate! These Canoe teams traveled from as far as Alaska, including far stretches of Vancouver Island, British Columbia and far stretches of Oregon Coast. Paddling for 4 to 6 six hours a day, some for over ten days, battling ocean current, heat and sheer physical exhaustion.

Each Canoe was fitted with a GPS Transponder and its latest position was updated in 30min intervals in the Website : paddletopuyallup.org/

Another test shot from the Contessa, I apologise for the amoeba like spots, I think I should've rinsed again, but I liked the scene anyway :).

Camrose Ski Club Canoe Trip 2014 - a lot of fun!

We certainly weren't racing, but their speed was hard to ignore. We had to paddle our butts off just to get close enough to see them in the distance.

Bought this sumbich for $25 a couple of decades ago.

Since then it has seen a many a watery mile and bounced off many a Georgia rock and many a Florida oyster bed. Lots of Bond-O, duck tape, caulk and fiberglass have been applied to keep most of the water out.

It is still sound. If you want it back it will cost you $25 and a fist full of beef-jerky. (Delivery included in the price)

For anyone else it is $4425 and a fist full of beef-jerky. (Delivery included)

I was lucky enough to get this thing because my friend H. Elbert, a famous non-conformist, hippy anti-materialist and almost an anarchist, believed that he should not own more than he could transport in his Chevy Vega.

H.Elbert, I love you to death, and I know you are smarter than me, but, even though the canoe could not fit in the trunk, you could have tied it on the roof.

I suspect you know that and I am eternally grateful for the many hours of joy this humble craft has given.

A peaceful fishing spot in the Matanuska Lakes system (formerly Kepler Bradley Lakes) called Canoe Lake, late September. These lakes are just outside of Palmer and can be full of campers, hikers and anglers in the summer. In the winter it's a popular local ice fishing spot. There is now a $5 day use fee since the lake system was taken over by the state, which deters anglers.
