HBC (Hudson Bay Company) used birch bark canoes to transport their goods across Canada centuries ago.
Our third port of call on our journey through Alaska took us to the town of Skagway where we went on an excursion called the "South Denali Experience". This was a real adventure complete with rough water, Rain Canoes and a spectacular of the Davidson Glacier. As we returned home, we were surprised with sightings of some of the local wildlife as well.
Now here is how you talk to a friend while using Social Distancing!! As I crossed the bridge I saw this lady in her small kayak floating on the canal, talking to someone. As I moved further over the bridge I could just see someone on the stern of a house barge who was chatting to her (the angle their barge was moored at made it hard to see the person on it)
This dugout canoe is a gi gawa, a ceremonial canoe, made by the Gogodala people of Papua New Guinea.
Located at one of the outriggers along the Buffalo River. It started raining just minutes after this photo was taken.
