The fort was constructed in 1612 to guard against the Dutch and the Marathas. It was a reference point for the vessels coming from Europe at that time. This old Portuguese fort stands on the beach south of Candolim, at the shore of the Mandovi River. It was initially tasked with defense of shipping and the nearby Bardez sub district.

After a long period i got chance to go out of Bangalore. We decided to give a try for Goa even in monsoons :) . It was raining constantly there, so i couldn't click much but it was a nice relaxing tour. will upload some more pics from the trip.

I just went on a business trip to India and managed to tag a couple of days in Goa in at the end. It was crazily hot, but I was able to get out and about and take a few photos.

Silhouettes are one of my favorite categories and this silhouette is from my last, fun filled trip to Goa. I believe everyone wanted their picture at this spot and it was kind of favorite on the day we visited one of the beach in north Goa. It was sunset, and I was not happy with photographic journey till I took this shot of a couple helping each other to move around the rocks. I think it was a cute moment which I captured as a silhouette to avoid invading their privacy.

A fascinating sight on Candolim Beach, Goa is the ship River Princess, which has been rusting away beached at the shores of the beach since 2000 and had become quite a tourist attraction in itself.
The rusting wreck was finally cleared in 2015.
