Recently I worked on the set of 'Neutral', written and directed by Paul J. Farrell. Here you can see crew rigging the car for the next take.
More about the film can be seen on their website - <a href="http://www.goattreefilms.com/short-films/4582473949" rel="nofollow">www.goattreefilms.com/short-films/4582473949</a>
Our annual father's day photography adventure had to be postponed. I had job come up last minute so we did our trip a week later. We took Dad's brand new hybrid Lincoln to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. From the mainland you can pretty much drive down to Ocracoke. They have national parks, Wright Brothers stuff and lighthouses. There are also wild horses. It was easy to find a few of them but once we rented a Jeep we could drive down the beach and it seemed like they were everywhere.
One of the many adventures you can have is riding the ferry. We needed to take a boat so that we could get from Hatteras to Ocracoke. It seems weird to take a floating parking lot from place to place. I heard, if you keep going south you can take another ferry then drive some more and take a boat, (I assume without your car.) and go to an island with more horses that does not have houses and as many people around.

We have gotten a lot better at the routine of scouting an area and returning when the light has improved. We spent the first day driving down then back op the archipelago. Bodie island lighthouse was the first one we saw. I like how it looks with all the scaffolding. It is like a rocket on the launch pad. I wanted to shoot it with a sunset kind of look, warm light, colorful clouds, exactly what you would see on a post card, but with the scaffolding and construction equipment. There are plenty of pictures out there of the clean Bodie Island Lighthouse.
When a storm ran us off the beach I knew exactly where to go. We found Bodie Island Lighthouse right on the edge of the oncoming storm. The sky was amazing. The thick clouds were only allowing light in from one side at an interesting angle. It was not the shot I had planned on but it was great. I worked with the kind of ominous feel with the weather and scaffolding. When the storm caught up with us, we went and got some of the best barbecue I have ever had at Pigman's.

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse has got to be the most famous lighthouse on the Outer Banks, maybe, I do not really have any data to back that up. However, it is really recognizable with the spiral pattern and classic lighthouse look. They actually moved this one inland because the spot it was on was going to erode away. We managed to shoot it at midday and sunset. Nearby there is a pond full of turtles, and there is an impression from a lizard in the sidewalk which are both also cool.

A different take on my "reflections of me..." self portraits.
I'm finally prepping my extensive collection of pro film cameras for sale on eBay. Here you see my reflection in the film pressure plate of my Fuji GSW690III 6x9cm with fixed 65mm lens. I really loved my medium and large format film cameras and now it's time to let them go.
I shot film from the 1970's thru the early 2000's, and was proud of my skills to properly expose transparency film for publicaton purposes. They served me well in the Editorial Magazine Photographer days.
