One of the very first brands of commercially available single-lens reflex cameras. Missed being the first one by mere months. It shot medium format (120) film in 6cm x 6cm square images. Cloth focal plane shutter, speeds from 1/25th to 1/500th (plus Bulb). Interchangeable lenses (I think 40mm screw-thread). Very happy to have found this. Mildly historical in backstory, solidly interesting in design.
messing around while I was at home on lunch break. Never thought it would be "Explored" less than a day after posting on 6/5/2014 :-D.
thought it would be funny to make a photo of "camera porn" as we so put it when talking about photos of camera gear.
taken with the EOS M and 22mm lens @ f/2.0.
had a flash gridded (25 degrees) hand-held above at 1/64th power. Shot with "hard" light lol. ;-)

This is my Horseman 45 HD, a cracking large format field camera, that I dont use half enough. The quality of images from a transparency that is four inches by five inches in area, has to be seen to be believed. I promise to use it this year.

My new (old) camera. The SX-70 cameras were manufactured in the 1970s and still they rock!
Just got back into that disc of portraits with my and my then new baby. No longer blond, but the BW bender suggested I needed to play. And she does make me smile like that a lot... Taken by the divine Jake Shivery of Blue Moon Camera, Portland, OR.
students at my school made them. some couldn't sit still, some couldn't pick up the beads with their fingers, some had trouble differentiating the colors. some took a few lessons to understand what they needed to do in class.
i told the teacher to let them decide what colors to use so that each camera comes out unique.
they are all so beautiful!!!

I get a decent number of questions asking me what I shoot with, do I use X or Y or whatever... so to make it easier I recently just took a photo of what's in my camera case, and then dumped it out so folks could get an idea of what tools I use (admittedly some more than other's).
This is what I keep my camera gear in... if you want to see the contents dumped out see this photo where it's easier to see everything as in this photo there is a lot of stuff that is buried under something else.

Tech Details: If your curious how one takes a photograph of all of one's photo gear the answer is you borrow a friends camera from down the street (a Rebel XT/350D with a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L lens).
Lighting provided by one White Lighting X1600 to camera right difused through a large softbox, with Westcott 42" Silver reflector to camera right to just bring in some fill light. A short roll of White Savage Seamless just hanging off the knuckle arm of an Avenger C-Stand (easier and quicker than getting out a big background stand). Triggered by a good ole-fashioned sync cable connected to a Nikon AS-15 on the hot shoe since the RebelXT/350D lacks a PC Sync connector.
Yesterday I told the story of how the digital revolution in photography led to the bankruptcy of Polaroid - a giant in the industry. However, a group of loyal staffers and instant photography buffs pooled their resources to create "The Impossible Project". The aim was to recreate (as best as possible) the Polaroid experience.
They bought the last surviving Polaroid factory in The Netherlands, and planned to recreate the processing of instant film. One of the problems at the time, was that the trustees of the bankrupt Polaroid owned all the patents to this manufacturing process, and so effectively they would have to start from scratch.
Well to cut more than a decade of struggle down to a few short notes, not only did The Impossible Project manage to create their own instant film process, but by that time they had also come to an agreement to be able to take over the famous Polaroid name. Polaroid 2.0 had been reborn.
This Polaroid Now camera is nothing special. In many ways it operates in a way similar to a toy camera like the late lamented Holga. It is powered by a rechargeable battery (the old Polaroid had the battery in the film cassette). The Polaroid Now does have a basic autofocus, a flash that can be turned on and off, and even a timer (to help with those selfies). It looks neat and fits nicely in the hand. But it is no Polaroid SX-70, the landmark SLR Polaroid we saw in those commercials yesterday.
The other thing in relation to the film stock for these cameras (known as I-Type instant film), is that the process in not really instant. In fact it takes up to 15 minutes for these photos to develop (about half that time for black and white), and unlike the earlier Polaroid method they must be put in a dark space to do so. Remember the old Polaroids could develop very quickly in full light right in front of you.
There are several reasons for this different process, which is certainly not yet up to the level of the old Polaroid film (especially the SX-70 film). One of these has to do with the extremely toxic chemicals that Polaroid once used in the process. These are no longer ecologically sound. So the processing of I-Type film is different, and as I said, the quality is simply not yet up to what Polaroid was at its very best.
For instance, the new film is very sensitive to temperature (so best store it in the fridge like other film stock). It has a relatively short shelf life. Polaroid 2.0 will only guarantee their film for a period of 12 months from manufacture. After that it is regarded as expired film. It still works, but you get some interesting results. I happen to love some of these effects and will show you examples in the coming days.
Buying this film online to save a few dollars might not be your best option. For example, I saw some I-Type film advertised on Ebay at less than half the normal retail price. Tempting, until I saw that the seller lived in the tropical region of north Queensland. I knew that the chances of this film being really useful was marginal because it was probably not stored in cool conditions.
Of course, by now a number of different manufacturers have joined the instant photography revival. Fujifilm produce their Instax series, Lomography likewise with their Lomo'instant. Lomography is very popular with younger photographers looking to play around with toy cameras (that's a whole other field of interesting photography). But the real surprise packet is the Leica SOFORT 2. This combines digital photography with an opportunity to print out the photos Polaroid style. Of course with most things Leica, it is quite a bit more expensive than the other brands. leica-camera.com/en-AU/photography/cameras/sofort-2-red
P.S. The Polaroid multi-coloured strip logo was adopted by Steve Jobs at Apple and incorporated into their apple logo. Jobs acknowledged that one of his great inspirations was Edwin Land and Polaroid.
This is a simple box camera, manufactured in France c1947. The GAP was made in several versions, this example being for 6x9cm exposures on 120 rollfilm, and with an octagonal faceplate.
The name GAP comes from the initials of the maker, George Paris.
35mm SLR with non-interchangeable lenses. You added a large front element group to change the magnification (wide or tele). It turned out there was no real cost savings doing this and most people tended to opt for an interchangeable lens model instead. Canon upgraded this camera in 1972 to the EX Auto with a better way of adding supplementary lenses.
Shutter-preferred automation, speeds up to 1/500th. Cold accessory/flash shoe. The aperture is set by a dial around the rewind crank; choose your f-stop or set to automatic. The aperture settings work even without battery power. The lens opening you set is shown in the viewfinder. Very solid build much like the Canon FT and FX of the day.

CAMERA BEAN BAG.70% of weight filled with PLASTIC PELLETS for extra support,
Support my 500 lens no problems
made from a High quality poly/cotton fabric printed with a camouflage pattern. The bag is also fully lined in all compartments.
The bean bag comes with an attached Polypropylene Strap Webbing (25 mm wide, olive green colour) handle for easy carrying and has 3 separate compartments, with 20mm Velcro Tape and 10 mm Press Studs Snap Fasteners PRYM.
Each one is fully lined and filled with “Poly plastic pellets” and mixed with poly balls, total weight of bean bag is approx 900 grams, 700 grams of that is taken up with poly plastic pellets, the plastic pellets gives extra support and stability the rest is made up with poly balls and the material.
This bean bag is invaluable in bird hides, where it can be rested on the window ledges and avoid camera shake and also car windows, the weight of the bag is also ideal to carry around all-day. To have a bean bag just filled with poly balls is not heavy enough or stable, the plastic pellets in these bags gives that extra weight and support. It is lightweight, but stable on the surface.
This is really a great convenience for a photographer taking photos in the CAR, BIRD HIDE.
The quality of each bag is made to the highest standard and individually made in the UK.
Have a CLOSER look.
I think I've reached that "happy place" with regard to my camera equipment. I've covered 10mm to 1280mm with a couple of primes in there.
UPDATE: Got the Canon 580EX II flashgun from Luika as a birthday present.
Thanks Luika! You are simply too generous!
Thanks to Lukia for the lender of the 400D for this shot :)

Hi Guys ! I've abandoned my camera for almost half a year maybe. I'm in my second year of High School and only a few months left I will become a Senior , latter on I will become a college girl, I can't barely believe that, time sure flies very fast. Secondary year is SUPER HARD ! I'm falling behind with my score and it becomes a struggle for me to catch up with the standards. Since I'm joining Science Class, the main standards that I have to achieve is Physics, Chemistry, Math and Biology. The hardest subject this second semester is the deadly PHYSICS !!!!!! I really wish and hope I could make it by the end of the semester with a great score which mean above the standards score (but I'm falling quite far [66/68]) cause it will be influence my acceptance when I'm applying to university . I really need your support guys ! It will be bring me more courage. Thankyou !
