My wife and I are spending the weekend in the Palouse. On the way, we stopped at Rowena to see how the flowers were looking... and guys, it's on! This was just a quick snapshot but I wanted you to see that the balsam root and lupine were at full bloom.
To be honest, this is probably the weekend. In fact, the balsam may be past its prime a bit... not all of it, but some of it. The lupine though is prime!
Are we still on for our May 1 meet-up?
This photo was taken at Mizell Farms in Folsom, La. I was attending their annual Hummingbird/ Butterfly Festival. This is just one of the many unknown gorgeous flowers that I was able to photgraph. You'd never know it by looking at my pics, but it rained for the entire time that I was there. I was juggling a large umbrella, my cane & my Casio EX-Z100 digital camera & somehow managed to capture some beautiful shots. Even though I was soaked by the time that I left, I was thrilled to have gone. Their farm has gorgeous flowers growing wild all over the property & many trails to wander along. And while you're admiring the flowers, there's always the possibility that a hummingbird will dive-bomb you, because all the plants that are planted or for sale just happen to be what Hummingbirds, Butterflies & Hummingbird Moths love & they guard them well. If this wasn't enough,, they also have a Butterfly Nursery at the back of the property. All in all, it sure makes for a wonderful way to spend the day.
