Boston-area residents affected by what they call predatory rent spikes and evictions will protest Brighton-based City Realty Group, LLC and its subsidiaries at 3:00pm Wednesday, staging an action outside the company’s headquarters at 370 Chestnut Hill Avenue. The action was organized by tenant rights groups City Life/Vida Urbana and Chelsea Collaborative.
Advocates argue that City Realty Group is using the foreclosure crisis to buy up homes at rock-bottom prices, then going back on its word to tenants and instituting predatory rent hikes that are well beyond original lease agreements. Despite its promises, the firm has refused to negotiate with tenants, opting instead to move forward with immediate eviction proceedings. In addition to an immediate eviction moratorium, groups like City Life and Chelsea Collaborative are calling for fair rent calculations based on both the owner’s mortgage/maintenance costs and overall affordability for existing tenants.

A few months ago, I did some calculations based on some figures given to me by my mom. She'd told me often about the day she believed "started her life" - a day when she was fourteen and met her hero at that time, Bobby Sherman, as well as the girls who would end up being her best friends for the rest of her life.
Using these numbers, I took the exact amount of years, months and days between my mother's birth and that crucial day, and I figured out when the same landmark day would be in my life (theoretically). This turned out to be September 16, 2006.
Nothing particularly special happened on that day, nor did anything very noticeable happen for the two months after it.
This past Monday, November the 27th, was, I think, my Special Day.

I was very clever in mathematics and was very proud for the same. After Gyan I had dream, I was incharge of selling tickets in some big event, where it was getting difficult to handle yet I worked for it but ended up with shortfall in my calculation. I was upset for this failure and then Pujyashree Deepakbhai came and consoled me giving answers to my question and I experienced peace and felt it was my ego behind the suffering I had.

The calculation to find ρ is at the bottom right of this shot. The data suggests that in our equation R=ρL/A, we were at least correct in assigning the linear dependence on L and that over the values we checked ρ does appear constant. The answer I had for the resistivity of the rheostat materal was ρ=1.39x10^-6 Ω·m
By my calculation, this was Steve's 17th year of making dinner for us for Valentine's Day. The menus have gotten pretty fancy since 2008, but Steve's been doing a little more improvisation the past few years. There are only so many variations of lobster, duck, and similarly "special" dishes in the cookbooks that we own.
This was our first course, based on a photo of a dish from Eleven Madison Park that Steve found. He cobbled together a recipe from similar elements in the Eleven Madison Park and French Laundry cookbooks, and we plated it together, using the photo for reference.

I knew that I'd like the lobster and the morels, but the surprise MVP of the dish was the ginger-carrot emulsion (French Laundry) paired with the pea purée (Eleven Madison Park). There was a carrot powder on the right side too, but that was less memorable.
There are countless calculations one can make to get the right dosage for different ages of children. It used to be that trainee paramedics had to learn these equations. We still do, but as a back up we have this wonderful system as illustrated here.
Char's now calmed down, counted the money and realised it's short. That's what happens with remote sweepstake entrants...

This lab is based on the AP Physics 2 Course description
Here's my calculation. I measured my piece of 0.7mm lead to be 6cm long. I converted both measurements into meters, calculated the cross sectional area, and plugged these into the formula. I got the resistance of the lead by using Ohm's law (V=IR) to solve for the resistance of the circuit with and without the pencil lead and plugged this in. I got a resistivity ρ=8.21x10^-6 Ω·m.
It's worth noting how I got the units for the unfamiliar constant. This is seen at right. Basically you plug in all the units you know, and you ask yourself what units the constant would need to cancel out all the units on its side that don't appear on the other side and then you multiply this by whatever units are on the other side.

Calculation of the Relative taxonomic resolving power index (Rtax) and Taxonomic index of congruence (Ctax).Calculations are exemplified on two distinct species delimitation approaches (X and Y) supporting different taxonomies. For a better understanding, calculations are first exemplified on a tree-based taxonomy (a). Although these calculations are based on a underlying phylogenetic perspective, knowledge of tree topology is not mandatory to perform the calculations (b). In (a), speciation event hypotheses supported by the approaches X and Y are represented by black and white circles, respectively. The Ctax between both approaches is defined as the ratio of the total number of speciation events congruently supported ( = shared) by both approaches (dark grey boxes), relative to the total number of speciation events cumulatively suggested by both approaches (in light grey boxes). The Rtax of a given approach represents the proportion of speciation events that it supports ( = single), relative to the complete set of speciation events (set of boundaries cumulatively revealed by all the different approaches – only two approaches in this example). In (b), representing the same taxonomy, the same calculations have been performed without relying on a phylogenetic tree, the number of speciation events being indirectly inferred from the number of species (in a dichotomic species tree, N cladogenetic speciation events = N species – 1).
