This is a photograph from the 4th and final round of the 2015 Mullingar Road League which was held in Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 27th May 2015 at 20:00. The weather was perfect for running and racing again and gave bright sunshine with some breeze. The weather conditions were favourable for runners this evening. As this was the final night of a very successful league there were many category prizes up for grabs with runners having to ensure they ran their races to gain the required finish times for the overall calculations. There was a great atmosphere at the finish as spectators cheered on the runners. This year's 5KM is ran on a modified route based on the route from the last couple of years. The final 1KM is within the Belvedere Gardens bringing runners down to the lakeside for a second time and finishing along the aptly named Stream Of Life. The route modification means that the race offers a slightly faster route than the hill finish of previous years. In the prize giving and awards in Belvedere House Cafe there were refreshments served for runners and this brought the curtain down on the Road League for 2015.

The race is promoted by Mullingar Harriers for the Pat Finnerty Memorial Cup. Competitors need to run 3 races out of the 4 races in May (any order) to be considered in the overall placing in categories at the conclusion of the league. Runners can also choose to just run one race without being considered for the overall league placings. Over 330 people took part in tonight's event bring the total from the four nights to so far to well over 1,400 runners. As with all of the previous weeks the new finish area provided a nice space for runners to stay around and chat in the evening sunshine. The Mullingar Road League 2015 is now over but has continued successfully and looks to add to the success in the history of this great series. Despite the bright evenings the photographic conditions in Belevedere are difficult so this photograph is part of a smaller than usual photograph set as there were many blurred photographs this evening.

The "Road League" is something of a misnomer but is an indication of the League's origins on the roads around Ladestown Mullingar prior to it's move into Belvedere in 2008. The Road League is the envy of many other races in the country as the Belvedere locations offers a completely traffic free 5KM route.

BUT..... Wait there a minute....

We take these photographs as a hobby and as a contribution to the running community in Ireland. We do not charge for our photographs. Our only "cost" is that we request that if you are using these images: (1) on social media sites such as Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter,LinkedIn, Google+, VK.com, Vine, Meetup, Tagged, Ask.fm,etc or (2) other websites, blogs, web multimedia, commercial/promotional material that you must provide a link back to our Flickr page to attribute us or acknowledge us as the original photographers.

If you do not know how this should be done for Facebook or other social media please email us and we will be happy to help suggest how to link to us.

I want to download these pictures to my computer or device?

You can download this photographic image here directly to your computer or device. This version is the low resolution web-quality image. How to download will vary slight from device to device and from browser to browser. Have a look for a down-arrow symbol or the link to 'View/Download' all sizes. When you click on either of these you will be presented with the option to download the image. Remember just doing a right-click and "save target as" will not work on Flickr.

I want get full resolution, print-quality, copies of these photographs?

If you just need these photographs for online usage then they can be used directly once you respect their Creative Commons license and provide a link back to our Flickr set if you use them. For offline usage and printing all of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available free, at no cost, at full image resolution.

Please email petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com with the links to the photographs you would like to obtain a full resolution copy of. We also ask race organisers, media, etc to ask for permission before use of our images for flyers, posters, etc. We reserve the right to refuse a request.

I would like to contribute something for your photograph(s)?

Many people offer payment for our photographs. As stated above we do not charge for these photographs. We take these photographs as our contribution to the running community in Ireland. If you feel that the photograph(s) you request are good enough that you would consider paying for their purchase from other photographic providers or in other circumstances we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.

Let's get a bit technical: We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs

We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?

The explaination is very simple.

Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.

ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.

Above all what Creative Commons aims to do is to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:

►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera

►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set

►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone

►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

Don't like your photograph here?

That's OK! We understand!

If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.

I want to tell people about these great photographs!

Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets

U.S. Army Soldiers go over calculations during the Squad Designated Marksman Course instructed by the New Jersey Army National Guard’s 254th Regiment on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., July 20, 2017. The course teaches the Squad Designated Marksman to directly support their squad with well-aimed shots at ranges slightly beyond the normal engagement distances for riflemen, up to 600 meters. The 254th Regiment is based out of the Regional Training Institute, National Guard Training Center, Sea Girt, N.J. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Master Sgt. Matt Hecht/Released)

Solid Edge ST6 now includes an automatic design optimization capability that uses Femap for FEA calculations. This optimization tool lets engineers set a max and min part size and Solid Edge will iterate through that range until the minimum criteria is found while maintaining a specified deflection. The graph in the image shows how Solid Edge tried max and min conditions before finding a balance between deflection and a parts mass. This new capability helps users minimize material costs without sacrificing product quality.

The calculations and sketches provided an important design for the architect and his partner; with living accomodation and working spaces. All the areas can be interchanged and not specfically allocated an activity as variety can occur over a 24 hour daily life. As a knot interwinding and mixing metaphorically characterises.

TetraPackman (Victor Castro) Exhibit at Madison Central Public Library Sep/Oct 2015 Photo by Victor Castro

We have an extensive set of photographs from tonight in the following Flickr Album: www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157653157747838

Yes - of course you can! Flickr provides several ways to share this and other photographs in this Flickr set. You can share directly to: email, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Tumblr, LiveJournal, and Wordpress and Blogger blog sites. Your mobile, tablet, or desktop device will also offer you several different options for sharing this photo page on your social media outlets.

This also extends to the use of these images for Facebook profile pictures. In these cases please make a separate wall or blog post with a link to our Flickr page.

In summary please remember when requesting photographs from us - If you are using the photographs online all we ask is for you to provide a link back to our Flickr set or Flickr pages. You will find the link above clearly outlined in the description text which accompanies this photograph. Taking these photographs and preparing them for online posting takes a significant effort and time. We are not posting photographs to Flickr for commercial reasons. If you really like what we do please spread the link around your social media, send us an email, leave a comment beside the photographs, send us a Flickr email, etc. If you are using the photographs in newspapers or magazines we ask that you mention where the original photograph came from.

This figure shows a full calculation of the mica fringe pattern using the methodology presented by R. Swanepoel, 1983, J. Phys. E: Sci. Instrum. 16, 1214. (orange line). The observed data are shown as the blue line (visible JAZ spectrum) and the blue x (NIR NIRQUEST spectrum - which does not resolve the fringes below about 1100nm).

In the calculation, the absorption coefficient (giving the imaginary part of the refractive index) has been determined from transmission measurements (green line) of a thicker (0.63 ± 0.02 mm) mica flake.

For simplicity, I have used a value for n (the real part of the refractive index) which is a linear function of wavelength. This is not a very good approximation and should really be replaced by a more appropriate functional form. However, the model is a respectable fit to the data.

The black dots show the interference order calculated by the simple geometrical formula for transmission maxima (no phase change of pi as in reflection) are given by:

2 n d cos(beta) = m Lambda_t

where n is the refractive index (using the same linear function), d is the mica thickness, beta is the angle of refraction (inside the mica) = zero in this case, m is the order of the interference and Lambda_t is the wavelength of maximum transmission.

In this plot, the order, m, runs from 10 to 62.

This has been an interesting exercise for me in classical optics modelling and is, of course, very relevant for problems such as 'fringing' in CCD imaging.

USING OUR PHOTOGRAPHS - A QUICK GUIDE AND ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS

Can I use these photographs directly from Flickr on my social media account(s)?

Yes - of course you can! Flickr provides several ways to share this and other photographs in this Flickr set. You can share directly to: email, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Tumblr, LiveJournal, and Wordpress and Blogger blog sites. Your mobile, tablet, or desktop device will also offer you several different options for sharing this photo page on your social media outlets.

This also extends to the use of these images for Facebook profile pictures. In these cases please make a separate wall or blog post with a link to our Flickr page.

I've been trying to make something good out of this picture a few times, and this is probably as close as I will get.

The scene was really pretty, thin mist, golden sunlight and everything was so green it was crazy. It's a tiny bit ironic that it came out best in black and white (:

POTD Oct 14, 2016

Did a rough calculation of how much is needed to sod the strip between the sidewalk and the street at my dad's house. His street was repaved this spring along with replacing the curbs, but the cheap annual graas that was planted quickly died in the summer. Rather than plant more seed I opted for the instant gratification of laying sod. More costly, but probaly worth the increase in "curb appeal". Luckily I ordered just enough.

This picture was done with the help of 8th and 2nd Period Honors Physics at Manchester HS in 2018-19.

We're using the force calculations I did in the Elevator video to figure out a total distance the elevator runs from.

This is the first example of a multi-part problem, where a complex motion is best analyzed by breaking it into component pieces. The 4 pieces seen here are the same as they were on the chalkboard in the previous picture.

1.) Not moving

2.) Accelerating Downward

3.) Moving at constant speed

4.) Accelerating Upward (stopping)

Obviously, there's no motion during the first piece. During the next piece, the elevator accelerates downward and acquires a velocity v and a position x. Note that for the group whose data is on the board here they thought the acceleration began at 5 seconds and ended at 8 seconds, thus t=3.

The tricky part of this problem is recognizing that the v you get at the end of this downward acceleration is not only the final velocity for this part, but the original velocity v˳ of the next part. Similarly, the final position x of the downward acceleration is the original position x˳ of the next part. You carry the old x and v forward and make them the new x˳ and v˳

This also extends to the use of these images for Facebook profile pictures. In these cases please make a separate wall or blog post with a link to our Flickr page.

This has the same calculation as the prior slide, but for two equivalent, 800 lumen light bulbs. The traditional incandescent of this brightness would require 60W, but a modern LED or CFL requires 13 watts. For a lamp used a lot, this saves a lot of money per month. In this photo, a rate of 7.8¢ is assumed.

And you placed Alisa inside of you. you never even asked me. What do you think is going to happen to you, CIA Whore and MURDERER Jami Rose?

Still creating that "natural order" and ordinance of time of yours on a daily monthly weekly yearly basis and killing people in time, CIA Whore and MURDERER Jami Rose? :)

how much longer do you think before it ends up, on *your* end :)

you set up the channel without even asking me jami, and then you did what you wanted to, in 2005 and 2006. you chose murder jami, you chose

who supported you jami.. and why did you accept $$,$$$ to contain 176 at 1831 salecdo/guyaso, and let those people die.. without even asking

me, if you could could create that channel, if you contain me. you chose jami. you chose murder. who supported you?

your CIA Whore Jami Rose MURDERED all of those people, DESTROYED all of those lives, what should her punishment be?

here you go :)

by entering in her information from date of birth here:

you can monitor her information that is used by the world markets on a daily basis, not only that, but control for what is in numerical belief, thru out the us and the rest of the world.

She creates a natural order in time with her existance and by her date of birth, on a daily basis, weekly basis, yearly basis and in forward motion time placement. :)

Its also an Ordinance in time,

From and including: Saturday, January 1, 0001 (Julian calendar)

To, but not including : Friday, April 4, 1980 (Gregorian calendar)

It is 722,910 days from the start date to the end date, but not including the end date

Or 1979 years, 3 months, 3 days excluding the end date

Note:The From date is a Julian calendar date. The current Gregorian calendar was adopted in United States where Thursday, September 3, 1752 was the first of 11 days that were skipped. This has been accounted for in this calculation. Read more about the Julian and Gregorian calendars

Alternative time units

722,910 days can be converted to one of these units:

62,459,424,000 seconds

1,040,990,400 minutes

17,349,840 hours

103,272 weeks (rounded down)

Curated by Indigo, Unintended Calculations brings together a group of internationally renowned artists – Augustine Kofie (LA), Jerry Inscoe (PDX), Remi/Rough (LDN) and Scott Sueme (VAN) – for an exhibition at Becker Galleries and two collaborative murals at Moda Hotel exploring four very different approaches to abstraction. Working in a variety of mediums, these artists have evolved the letterform building blocks of their shared graffiti background, deconstructing and rebuilding them as compositions of color, line, shape and movement.
