A lot of post-processing on this one as I was trying to give it a Tim Burton-esque vibe. I'm really looking for feedback and comments on this picture, folks.

Tech stuff:

Masked out Victor and Emily and added a very faded outer glow - for creepiness factor and to better define Victor's hair as it blended in to the top of the pic; created a B&W layer with a slight sepia tone in PS for the background; used Topaz Simplify's "BuzSim Toned II" filter which blurred out the background and added a purplish tinge (similar to what you would see in old, faded black & white photos).

I faded the B&W and Simplify layers until I got a mix that seemed creepy but not scary and showcased all the work both cosplayers put into their costumes.

“The pregnant woman has more “freedom” in the public sphere than ever before — and yet women are experiencing the largest war against their reproductive freedoms in more than fifty years. It’s contradictory, of course, but that’s the guiding structure of any ideology: no matter how emancipatory it might seem for the pregnant body to be visible, that visibility means subjugation to regimes of respectability and regulation under patriarchy. As Cramer points out, it was no coincidence that as audiences watched Kardashian’s preparations for labor, Wendy Davis was filibustering against anti--choice laws in the Texas state legislature. When the body becomes public property, as the pregnant body has indubitably become, it not only liberates the populace at large to comment and cast judgment on it, but the (male--dominated) legislature to institute legal controls over it.” ―Anne Helen Petersen

North Dakota based artist John Lopez creates amazing sculptures by combining old metal and machinery parts. The artist is heavily influenced by his passion about horses, his familial history and his ranch life in America.

He collects all kinds of metalic objects and parts from farm machines, when combines and welds them together to make gorgeous detailed sculptures about the wild west.

“But as Kardashian’s pregnancy became unequivocal, the rest of her body refused to conform to the cute ideal she’d internalized. Her feet, like the rest of her body, began to swell — early indicators of what would later be diagnosed as preeclampsia. She yearned for the body that hid beneath her pregnant one: when brother‑in‑law Scott Disick walked in on her in pregnancy Spanx, he exclaimed, “Your voluptuous pregnant body shouldn’t be in bike shorts around people,” to which Kardashian responded, “It’s less attractive than my skinny toned body . . . Can we just reminisce for a second?” Over the course of that one scene, Disick tells her: “You’re gonna get back there”; “Your boobs are getting a little big for you to do that”; “How big is that baby”; “You look like the Nutty Professor.” It’s the sort of contradictory messaging a pregnant woman receives: you’re hot, but on the border of obscene; you’re perfect, but you’re huge; don’t feel bad about yourself, but your thin body is better.” ―Anne Helen Petersen

I spent a day walking around London’s East End around Hackney, Shoreditch, Dalston and Bethnal Green with an incredible photographer friend Alan Schaller looking out for inspiration, oddities and niceties. Alan is a rising star in street photography. Thought relatively a newcomer to the field, he has already been featured and published by the likes of Time Out, Buzzfeed, The Independent and many more! His black & white work is truly outstanding and I really urge you to check it out!

Alan and I stumbled upon a strange sight in London – a farm! The Hackney City Farm is a fantastic project that for 20 years has allowed city kids to experience the farm environment and see up close in person the kind of animals that a child might not actually see for many years if living in a metropolis like London. It’s a very cool place and it was definitely a highlight of the day.
