This is a grey-banded mining bee (Andrena denticulata), on tansy (Tanacetum vulgare) by the sea below our house two summers ago.

It was my first time noticing this wild bee species, but it is a common species during late summer in southern and eastern Norway. Last summer I noticed many of them around our house as well.

Its range goes from central and north Europe to the mountainous regions of southwestern Europe, northern Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Russia.

It visits various plants in the daisy family (kurvplantefamilien in Norwegian), and is common in forest edges and meadows. It nests singly in the ground.

We have a new beautiful morning here today, and like yesterday I will try to enjoy an hour on my bike, probably finding even more newly arrived migratory birds, before going back to Stavanger for our two next NRK TV recordings with my choir, which will be sent on TV during Easter. It was such a blast last night!

This bumblebee seems to take the shape of the flower that welcomes it.

I just discovered that the Death Star Makes a pretty convincing Buzz Droid shell. I know it's not 100% accurate but it was the best I could do with the parts at hand.

In its newly-applied RTA heritage wrap, Metra F40PH 100 blasts past the rows of stored Highliner EMUs north of 119th Street on the Rock Island District main line. The train was deadheading equipment back from La Salle Street Station to the Blue Island coach yard, just a couple minutes ahead of a regular express run.

The short telephoto zoom was on the camera when our local little lady posed so nicely by the flowers on the deck. Not bad though considering it's a big crop.

I've been bouncing around of late in regard to my photographic interests. Birds, sunsets, macro, landscapes, and more. Truth be told, I am in a bit of a creative lull at the moment. Decided to do some macro work today, and here is a bee buzzing around a clover flower. Not sure what that thing is on its leg, although my wife said it is honey? Best viewed (L) for full detail.

Thanks for all the faves, comments, and views. Much appreciated~!
