Inspired by one of my contacts (who also kindly gave instructions!), I made some button flowers to give to my Mother in Law & her sister. They were made from buttons I inherited when their Dad moved into a flat in the summer.
This is the original Haruo. He's a sweater monster with button eyes and he's holding a button flower.

A great project to do with your kids!
A button is a concept of making a statement and sticking to it. The string represents the necessity in our life to depend on something. In a world of disbelief we must stick to our opinions and value them, because everyone has their own way of attaching the string according to their view on the life seen through their own, unique button.
It is apparently impossible for me to acquire anything and NOT spend hours pouring over it and sorting it into little compartments organized by color. Sigh.
