They were dying about now! It was 97 degree weather and they had been out there for 3 hours. Poor Gene got the worst of it - some adults that they were playing against thought it was funny to shoot at kids and used Gene as a target. He got hit all over!! If you enlarge you can see one of many hits Gene had on his right arm. He got hit up and down his arms, on his stomach, on both of his butt cheeks (which he had no shame in pulling his pants down and said "Ms. Hammond - not used to Wilder - look where I got hit", up and down his legs - yet he was having FUN!
Kids were sliding down the ski jumps on thier butts. It looked like fun so Emily and mom gave it a try.
