On Wednesday 13th May 2015, Middle Street in Consett played host to a Service Launch event for the Go North East Red Kite Network of Branded Services.
The Red Kite 45 and 46 buses give regular and reliable links between Consett, Derwentside College, Shotley Bridge, Ebchester, Hamsterley, Rowlands Gill, Swalwell, MetroCentre, Teams and Newcastle, with the Red Kite 45 serving Blackhill and Benfieldside, while the Red Kite 46 serves Bridgehill.
Red Kite 47 runs from Blackhall Mill, Chopwell, High Spen, Rowlands Gill and Metrocentre every 30 minutes.
The New Single Deck Vehicles come with the provision of Free Wi-fi, Power sockets, USB connections, Next stop announcements and leather seats, while the Double Deck Vehicles which are Volvo B9TL Wright Gemini 2s from Dealer Stock come with Free Wi-Fi
At the publicity event was New Wright Streetlite Micro-Hybrid (5412 NK15 EOC), The event also included Dancing Red Kites, a 'Selfie' bus, free coffee and pizza along with Face painting and free 'the world's smallest' flying Red Kite, as well as Entertainment from Metro Radio.
Scratch Cards were also being given out, where passengers could win a Days free Travel, in which I got one and won, think everyone who got one was a winner as apparently over 60 People won before scratched away at mine.
Another Launch Event is due to occur on Friday 15th May on Northumberland Street in Newcastle, where the same will be up for grabs, well minus the Pizza that was for the people of Consett only today.

Day 2 and a more Successful Day than Yesterday in getting Photos of Volvo B5TL Demonstrator 9131(Lothian 286).
The Following Collection of Photos takes us from Newcastle Eldon Square Bus Station to Winlaton, With a quick stop at Winlaton and Blaydon for all of 30 Seconds before getting back on.
I also experienced something rather Special on 9131(286) which I have never seen with any other Bus, and this happened on Several Occasions throughout the Journey, Particularly around the Winlaton area. People who were walking by stopped pointed and simply admired 9131 as it Drove Past and I was simply amazed by that which is why I have grown to Love the B5TL.
