My Moe's Reward points were about to expire, so I used them towards our dinner. We both got Moe's Homewrecker Burrito Bowls with Adobo Chicken. And we got a fountain drink as well.

The Chipotle at 3113 14th Street NW in Columbia Heights, DC, finally opened yesterday. Yes, I know it's a chain, Taqueria Distrito Federal has better tacos, yadda yadda... but I like Chipotle burritos and burrito bowls. So, that's what I had for lunch today.

DESCRIPTION
Refrigerated biscuits make a grand holder for taco filling and all its trimmings!
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
1 (15-oz.) can spicy chili beans, undrained
1 package (1.25 oz) Old El Paso® 40% less-sodium taco seasoning mix
1/2 cup water
1 can (16.3 oz) Pillsbury® Grands!® refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (4 oz)
1/2 cup shredded lettuce, if desired
1/2 cup chopped tomato, if desired
1/2 cup sour cream, if desired
1/2 cup Old El Paso® Salsa, if desired
DIRECTIONS
1.Heat oven to 375°F. Brown ground beef in large skillet over medium-high heat until thoroughly cooked, stirring frequently. Drain.
2.Add chili beans, taco seasoning mix and water; mix well. Reduce heat to medium; simmer 10 minutes or until ground beef mixture is slightly thickened, stirring occasionally.
3.Meanwhile, spray outside bottom and sides of 8 (6-oz.) custard cups lightly with nonstick cooking spray. Separate dough into 8 biscuits. Roll or pat each biscuit to form 4 1/2-inch round. Place rounds over outside of sprayed cups; press to fit over bottom and part way down sides of cups. Place cups, upside down, in ungreased 15x10x1-inch baking pan.
4.Bake at 375°F. for 14 to 16 minutes or until deep golden brown. Remove pan from oven. Carefully remove biscuit cups from custard cups. Place biscuit cups, right side up, in same baking pan. Spoon beef mixture evenly into each cup.
5.Top with cheese, lettuce, tomato, sour cream and salsa.
I recently dropped in to Extreme Burrito, one of Pickering's newest restaurants. As the name suggests, they serve Mexican food, featuring tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and more. They even offer vegetarian meals and kids meals.
I munched on their Nachos Supreme, loaded with all kinds of delicious goodness. As good as it was, their Extreme Nachos, made with sweet potato waffle fries, was da bomb! It was so good!
With lots of items to choose from, I went with the Sirloin Steak Bowl, which featured slices of sirloin steak, Mexican rice, refried beans, fresh vegetables, guacamole, salsa, and more. It was delicious!
There are lots of choices for toppings, condiments, and more, to personalize your meal. Load up!
I was impressed with the food quality, flavours, many menu choices, and friendly service. I will definitely be back!

This recipe is inspired by Pick Up Limes' Burrito Nourish Bowl with Creamy Guacamole. I made changes and I HAD to have cheese and sour cream on top. You do NOT need an Instant Pot to make this recipe: www.suziethefoodie.com/black-bean-burrito-bowl/

I'm trying to gain weight prior to my upcoming oral surgery, as I'll be on a liquid diet for at least a week and will waste away to nothing unless I pad things out a bit in advance. So, I'm eating things like burritos from Chipotle and Qdoba (on E Street downtown), lots of Reese's peanut butter cups, and other soft-ish foods. I wish I could get back to my old, healthy diet, but my jaw won't be up to it for another 6 months or so. Can't wait to get the surgery over with.
According to the Qdoba online nutrition calculator, this is 880 calories!
Tortilla-less ("naked") chicken burrito, at the Qdoba eatery in National Airport, in Arlington, VA. We had a quick bite there while seeing my mother-in-law off on her trip back to Boston.
Another Chipotle burrito bowl for lunch, as part of operation "fatten Mr. T up before oral surgery." Part of the plan is to become so sick of food that I don't miss it while unable to eat for a couple of days, and being on a liquid diet for a week or more. According to the scale at the gym, I've only gained 1-2 pounds, so I really need to step up the gorging. I should have asked for extra cheese and sour cream in this case.
Extra hot sauce with two sides of hot sauce. Steak + Chicken, extra rice, extra corn salsa, sour cream, lettuce.

Woke up at 4am with an excruciatingly sore throat - popped some painkillers and eventually got back to sleep some time before 5. Thankfully I was due to work from home today anyway, as we were having secondary glazing fitted in our office at work. I did walk down to Sainsbury's at lunchtime though, so that I could make this tasty burrito bowl for my dinner this evening.
Doesn't look that great, but it was super good. I did not order the lettuce to top it, shame on me.
