The vignette was actually unintentional. My 24-105 f/4L seems to vignette on my new 5D Mk II at f/4. I tried enabling peripheral illumination control, but it didn't seem to help this image...

What kind of diploma does one get from this fine establishment?

It’s not just rain but also melting snow that has contributed to flooding in the Willamette Valley. I knew sooner or later we’d pay for that string of unusually warm weather we had in December. It’s like Mother Nature was keeping score and has now demanded we account for it all at once. Each day is a mystery. One minute it’s sunny and warm, and then it hails for a while which turns to rain, then back to sun. It’ll snow all night and by the following evening it will have melted.

The floodplains are at full capacity which is unusual for this time of year. Fields, which contain crops during spring and summer months, have become deep lakes and now are spilling over roads like this one. This particular road was closed for a while and was recently reopened.

took this in the morning as I was leaving our room to check out. Just loved the way the light hit & it catered to my love of symmetry. the night before, I hit my head, violently, against the inside ridge of the skylight, to the point I had a 1/2" raised bump.

Veined tree frog (Trachycephalus venulosus) - San Martin Department, Peru

Although this species can be quite common it took a while for me to find my first one in the Peruvian jungle. Perhaps because this species is more common in disturbed habitat than pristine jungle. I was attempting to photograph this individual when it ducked underneath this small vine in an attempt to hide or get away, completely ineffectual as far as hiding goes but it gave me the opportunity to get an interesting image. Another name this species goes by is milk frog due the sticky white mucus is discharges when bothered by potential predators.

I took this photo to show the difference between Murphy's forehead, with all the bumps of an adult male masai giraffe, and Tatu's, with its youthful smoothness.

Of course I bumped into the wall, because I'm me.

Aperture could have been bumped to f11/f16 to give more depth of field. But I had taken this shot without a tripod. These bees are fast in the morning sun. They fight with each other over the flowers.

An emotional cocktail of confusion and consternation spreads across the face of a horrified *passenger, bumped from a flight overbooked by moronic savages.

*Note: he retired to the lounge for 36 hours and, according to police, disappeared, though there are unconfirmed reports that he lives beneath a bridge in Omaha, Nebraska, 400 miles from where the incident took place.

I did loads of illustrative typography while doing an internship at ilovedust in London. Every time there was a dead space it was spent doing some type experiments. Here is one poster of a trilogy of type posters I did.

It was a very pleasant hour spent by the river, despite the spits of rain. I saw a Mayfly, some ducklings, a chaffinch fluttering in a tree catching insects, lots of people rowing furiously and some pretty ladies in lycra. Twas a good hour.

More shots in the first comment.

On days like today, where the wind chill in Boston is hovering at minus 7 degrees, my mind drifts off to memories of warmer places. This shot from Grasslands Golf & Country Club in Lakeland, Florida was taken on Christmas Day a few years ago. Now back to reality.
