If elk drank beer, I'd say these guys have beer bellies.
The reality is that bull elk must bulk up before mating season, because they can lose 20-30% of their body weight during the rut. So the bulkier they are at the beginning, the better condition they'll be in at the end. These two guys seem to have a very good start with roughly five weeks to go before the frenzy of the rut begins.
I have no theme in mind for my next several posts. But I guess random can be considered a theme, so this is the start of my random theme.

RICARDA (IMO: 9693329, MMSI: 255805688) ist ein Bulk Carrier. Es fährt unter der Flagge von Madeira. Baujahr 2015.
Der Leuchtturm Bülk steht an der äußersten östlichen Landspitze der Nordseite der Kieler Förde, auf dem Gebiet der Gemeinde Strande in Schleswig-Holstein. Der Bülker Leuchtturm ist der älteste Leuchtturm an der Kieler Förde. Er dient als Orientierungsfeuer für die Zufahrt zur Förde. Mit einem roten Warnsektor markiert er die Untiefe Stollergrund.

This bulk carrier, 200m in length, floated at anchor in the sun as we passed by on our way to Tsawwassen ferry terminal from Duke Harbour, Nanaimo. Ferry passages between Vancouver Island and the B.C. mainland offer spectacular views of nature and marine vessels.

The Waalhaven is one of the harbours on the left bank of the Maas in Rotterdam. With its area of 310 ha, it is the largest excavated harbour basin in the world. The Waalhaven flows into the Nieuwe Maas and is directly connected to the sea via the Scheur and the Nieuwe Waterweg.

My first attempt at this shot was with a tripod at ISO 100, but the suspension bridge was vibrating due to traffic, and no stable ground was available... so this shot was handheld at high ISO with the old camera from 2005. Wishing everyone a good day!

The Buffalo Line has always been an artery for bulk commodity shipments of various types. Here, we see two hopper trains of varying types showcasing the evolution of this traffic. On the left is a local coal train, symbolled 632. The 632 came off RJ Corman and is headed for export via Baltimore. On the right is grain train 55N, running empty from the new grain unloader at New Columbia on the Union County Industrial Railroad. This shipper unloads feed grain at an impressively large loop track along the former Reading main.
NR65, AN8 and NR53 head north through Glenfield with 4MB4, crossing an empty stone train in the loop as 1297.
