If elk drank beer, I'd say these guys have beer bellies.
The reality is that bull elk must bulk up before mating season, because they can lose 20-30% of their body weight during the rut. So the bulkier they are at the beginning, the better condition they'll be in at the end. These two guys seem to have a very good start with roughly five weeks to go before the frenzy of the rut begins.
I have no theme in mind for my next several posts. But I guess random can be considered a theme, so this is the start of my random theme.

Als Leuchtturm wird ein Turm bezeichnet, der eine Befeuerung trägt. Leuchttürme sind insbesondere nachts weithin sichtbare Schifffahrtszeichen (durch die abgegebenen Leuchtfeuer sowie als Peilmarke) und dienen der Ortsbestimmung, der Warnung vor Untiefen oder der Fahrwassermarkierung.

The construction of the current tower was begun in 1862 by the Danes but owing to the Second Schleswig War it was not completed until 1865, by Prussia. (Wikipedia).
It also has a cafe there, but which was closed, because it was Sunday. Of course.

The Ruby-throated Hummingbirds start their fall migration in late August or early September when they make their long trip south to their winter homes in Mexico, Costa Rica or Panama. It's always a good idea to fuel-up before the trip.
The Buffalo Line has always been an artery for bulk commodity shipments of various types. Here, we see two hopper trains of varying types showcasing the evolution of this traffic. On the left is a local coal train, symbolled 632. The 632 came off RJ Corman and is headed for export via Baltimore. On the right is grain train 55N, running empty from the new grain unloader at New Columbia on the Union County Industrial Railroad. This shipper unloads feed grain at an impressively large loop track along the former Reading main.
QE009 and QE010 arrive into Goulburn with empty Qube Logistics grain train 9361.
Both locomotives will be serviced at the Rail First Goulburn site before then travelling onto Junee.
Pacific National's 81 and 8155 wait in the Up Refuge for crew availability with a loaded grain train to Inner Harbour.
