Dutch bulb fields in April are such a riot of colour

The tulips are finally coming, albeit a month late. We were unhappy to learn that our friends in Edmonton had tulips in bloom before us here in the Netherlands.

In the olden days, when we were still living in Amsterdam, we had a little 'home away from home' smack in the middle of the bulbfields by the dunes in Egmond. This field started 5 feet from my window. Spectacular views for a couple of weeks a year!

Of course we weren't supposed to walk in those fields...

These suspended letters were being drowned by the rising tide, and we never did work out what they said. Our guess "The tide reaches up to here".

I did not take any details of this statue, but it looked attractive in the evening sun, at the very end of the little peninsula.
