When driving to Schiphol on Easter Monday we drove past a field of tulips, tied in well with the bunch of tulips I bought for the Easter weekend. The end result does look like a cliché Dutch postcard !

Not all cabins in this position had that two windows -- I enjoyed them.

Next, we were brought out on deck to meet our lifeboat (which had its place right in front of my two windows) and be told what would happen should we need to leave ship in this manner. We were introduced to the crew member responsible for our safety, who would be ensuring that we embarked properly, should an emergency occur. It was all very friendly, very well organised and reassuring.

Compact and workable -- washbasin, loo, shower, hot and cold running water.

When Spring is in the air Holland's countryside turns into a kaleidoscope of colours. From mid-March to mid-May are the best times to go and see the flower parks and the colourful bulb fields.

... from my cabin window! These windows were coated with a reflective layer which made it easy to look out, but almost impossible during daylight hours to look in.

I am absolutely not the first one to make this kind of picture, but I did not see it with flash so far.

Nederland, Flevoland, Noordoostpolder, 16-04-2012; Vuurpad, met bloembollenvelden en akkers die op het punt van bloeien staan. Boerderijen en kavels op regelmatige onderlinge afstand, voorbeeld van moderne grootschalige polder met rationele verkaveling. De aanleg van de polder maakte deel uit van de Zuiderzeewerken (plan Lely) en viel in 1942 droog. De meeste boerderijen (en dorpen) zijn van na de tweede wereldoorlog. The northeast polder (NOP), is an example of modern large-scale polder with rational allotment. The construction of the polder was part of the Zuiderzee Works (Lely plan), in 1942 the polder was dry. Most of the building, farmhouses and villages, is post-war.

I found her, and several other OLS friends, by the swimming pool, enjoying a first drink.

Nederland, Zuid-Holland, Bent, 28-04-2017. Polder Groenendijk, midden in het Groene Hart (ten Westen van Leiden). Boortunnel van de hogesnelheidslijn doorkruist dit gebied ondergronds, de gebouwen maken onderdeel uit van de zogenaamde vluchtschacht, de nooduitgang.

The drill tunnel of the high-speed train (HST) runs through this underground area, the buildings are part of the so-called flight shaft, the emergency exit.
