Carl, aka "Capt. Dreadz", and his mk2 VRT which he built fromt eh rgound up all by himself. Carl is a bit of a legend in the mk2 scene and from what I remember, has owned well over 30 VW's, most of which were VR swaps. I shot this at a local meet we have, he showed up at the right time and I didn't want to pass up the opportunity to snag a shot while I could (I do plan on doing a full shoot in the near future).

Shot in John's shop I underexposed the ambient pretty much just letting the neon lights show up. There is an SB-26 camera left firing at the door and 3 Yongnuo manual flashes--one behind the car camera left, another in front of the car camera left and right, all bare. There is an Alien Bee, 1600 firing at the back of the white garage door behind the camera for some fill. Triggered with a Yongnuo commander that controls the Yongnuo speedlights, and the SB was triggered by the other flashes. A Yongnuo 103 which can be triggered by the commander was used on the AB. Canon 5DII, 24-105L

A sneak peak at a shoot I did this weekend of John's freshly re-sprayed mk2 Jetta. I was lucky enough to squeeze the shoot in before he starts tearing the motor out for an ABA swap with a shaved bay which he's planning on wrapping up in time for H2oi. He's done so much to the car already, by himself, and it's awesome to see how great it's turning out. He got a hand painting it from another friend Casey (aka dutchovn aka cperiodraynes) when they renovated a garage into a make shift paint booth and Casey did his thing. Lots of awesome mk2 goodies on this Jetta like the heckblende, some split front door windows, and some cowl hood scoops. Really can't wait to see this thing all finished up.
