Pattern from Blinking Flights

Bug hits windshield

Aphids and their eggs laid on the stem of a rose. The aphid in the foreground looks wrinkled and I wonder if its body has gone like this once its eggs are laid. All the others on the stem were rounded.

This katydid was hanging onto our front door molding yesterday. I helped her outside but she got pretty cranky when I tried to help her. She was a whole lot friendlier than most of the things we find crawling around here!

Looks lacy, but larger than a lace bug. And hopped off so ?some kind of hopper! Sitting on thumbnail for scale - is not that small. The photos of it sitting on a nettle leaf were not good.

My mom and I went to this semi-annual plant sale at her FAVORITE greenhouse (I swear, I get drug there every time I'm home), and I saw this CRAZY looking fly. It looked like it was some bee-fly-hybrid.

Too bad Connecticut only has "Early American" plates for antique cars...

I've been getting an interesting bug this afternoon on all my Google searches.

Every non-google site is displaying with a "this site may harm your computer" link under the main search result.

This, of course, is quite hilarious; so I took the opportunity to do a search for some truely malicious programmes.

The ornamental gardens had an accompanying insectarium. This is just a small handfull of the many bugs on display. Though they did have live specimens, and Fran was particularly taken with the bees, they were far outnumbered by those who were not so fortunate and now lie behind glass, pinned to a board.

I felt like a baleen whale this morning, feeding on krill, as I walked in Ashbridges Bay Park and on the boardwalk. I have never, ever, seen so many bugs. Swarms of them, clouds of them. Pity the poor joggers; no fun for them on their morning runs.

Didn't get one photo this morning that didn't have a bug in it, or on the lens.
