I think these are the nymphs of the Spined Predatory Shield Bug (Oechalia schellenbergii). Seen at Evan’s Crown Nature Reserve, Tarana, NSW.
From a flower garden in Iowa. They're everywhere right now. It's a Northern Corn Rootworm Beetle.....thanks to Mean & Pinchy!
A fly with a very shiny green body on a very yellow flower. Spotted in the walled garden at Burton Agnes Hall. Fortunately the sun came out and increased the background contrast for me.
BTW , loads of butterflies fluttering around. But as I had the wrong lens on, they took flight immediately I moved toward them, unlike this friendly fly who stayed still for ages.
This was originally uploaded as a 20 sec clip. I later created a half speed version and enjoyed it so much that I tacked it on to the end of the full speed video to make this 60 sec video. I then marked the original version private so viewers wouldn't waste their time viewing both.
I shoot everything at 4K and 60 fps, so nothing is really lost in quality at half speed viewing
BB, aka BB, pushed the Christmas mouse off the flower part of the new cat tree and proceeded to hunker down. I really like the tree bc she’s at just the right level to administer scritches!!
Part of a series of VW Bug images I shot in Oaxaca, Mexico
I was scanning old negs all night for requested prints (i'm selling prints now - see here: jenene.org/printpricing.html ) and of course I'm getting side tracked on projects I never finished. Like this VW Bug portfolio being properly scanned. So yeah, I'm gonna do it now, even though it's almost 5 years later.
Lot's more VW Bugs to come... they are my favorite :)
This is a group of Large milkweed bugs - Oncopeltus fasciatus. There are adults and nymphs in various stages of developement. It's no surprise that the favorite food of the large milkweed bug is the seeds and tissue of the milkweed plant Asclepias.
Marzipan modelling which was part of my City and Guilds 7900 design in sugarcraft. I really enjoyed making this except for the stick insect which gave me a lot of problems propping him up and making the stick hands and legs.
a Platycranus bicolor mirid bug from gorse opposite the visitor centre at Hastings Country Park - note the hair scales and broad vertex on this late summer gorse specialist
I almost didn't realize that the black spots inside this yellow flower were actual bugs until I got my macro lens out and took a few pictures. I'm not sure if they were dead or just simply hanging out in there.

Finally, now the school holidays are over the sun came out and I went out for a walk late this afternoon.
Not just a bee (?) but another bug hiding behind a petal too - the petal at the top on the right.
Thank you for your favourites. :O)
Tiny spider hunting on this flower, photo taken using 2 remote controlled Godox V860 flashunits. One unit put on the left towards the front inside a large 60x90 softbox and one unit slightly to the left rear inside a smaller round softbox.
