These buds were on our Weigela bush, last spring. They opened into medium-sized flowers, and attracted bees.

Beneath grass fronds we have tiny little hyacinth buds as well as tiny tulips. Yet morning temps lower to 34F / 1.1C with frost.
Belly shot. This is where my husband's 200mm macro lens works best, pushing it through the grass toward the little buds.

Soon it will be beautiful! In spring its leaves emerge bright-yellow edged in red. In summer, they age to chartreuse-yellow and don't fade or burn from the heat. Autumn finds them bright orange and red.

The bud is open and the seeds seek to fly in the air to begin a new life. Before they do this, my camera caught them.
I'm pleased to see my Croton will flower again this year.

Flower buds from one of our blueberry bushes, against a February sky. These buds have blossomed by now, and, God willing, there will be ripe blueberries eventually. There's a leaf bud between the two groups of flower buds.
