There are about 250 different species of pelargoniums and hundreds of newer cultivars. Most of these species are indigenous to South Africa, and are found mainly - although not exclusively - along the east and west coasts and the Cape peninsula.

One of the beautiful flowers of the variety of tulips.🌷 This bud was still closed but it's still beautiful. Waiting for Spring again in few months!

Lantanas have little squarish flower buds, with a couple dozen or so on a flowering head. Those buds are beautiful. So are the flowers.

These pink wild roses start as bright red buds. This seems to happen in other plants as well. White apple blossoms start out with bright pink buds.
Pink Rhododendron flower buds are ready to blossom. the textured leaves are wide open in the spring light.
A flower bud waiting for spring, it has been waiting there since december, due to the relative warm winter we've had here.
Before they break out into their lovely star-shaped flowers, the buds put on their own beautiful show, as seen here.
I have no Milkweed plants in my landscape right now, but I have fallen in love with it this summer and I will definitely scatter some seeds in our flower beds for next year's incorporation!
