The Buddha Dordenma is located atop a hill in Kuenselphodrang Nature Park and overlooks the Southern entrance to Thimphu Valley. This massive statue of Shakyamuni measures in at a height of 51.5 m, making it one of the largest statues of Buddha in the world. The statue is made of bronze and is gilded in gold. 125,000 smaller Buddha statues have been placed within the Buddha Dordenma statue.
The identity of this and other fat Buddha sculptures you can trace on the world-wide web. I don't think that it matters much in this case. This is a very particular front garden in the village of Markyate, Hertfordshire. During summer, this statue is shown together with a beautiful assemblage of flowers. In winter, we have at the same spot an exhibition of the full spectrum of Christmas paraphernalia - both public. The messages of happiness and hope are indeed what is needed in these days. However they are dressed up. Fuji X-E2 plus Helios 44M-7 wide-open.

This image is of a favorite Buddha statue. To attract interest, I added additional compositional elements.
Such statues are intended to depict how Buddha appeared in his physical form, but also serve as symbols of Buddha's teachings, and the peace and good fortune that may be found by following them.

Wat Phra That Suthon Mongkhon Khiri, Phrae Province, Thailand.
Three kilometres from Den Chai district, or some 2 kilometres from the provincial town, is Wat Phra That Suthon Mongkhon Khiri. Although a comparatively modern temple, it boasts highly eye-catching structures. The Ubosot in particular is noted for its delicate sculptures with fine designs.
There is also the golden teak structure in the Lanna-style which houses valuable relics of the North, including Buddha statues, lacquerware, Lanna musical instruments, ancient weapons and pictures depicting past events.
