Ice in a mug.
Over the Christmas period we had a few days of hard frost. On one occasion I ventured out, far from the crackling log fire and a warm infusion of calming tea…
And found this ice in an old china mug sitting in the garden. I loved the cracks and the bubbles and thought they would make an interesting macro. Maybe. If you are already interested in that sort of thing, or space, or vague wispy things with bubbles :)
So back by the roaring flames (and the tea) I played about with the image on the iPad.
Now the real question: where do the bubbles come from? Is it air being knocked out of solution by the reducing temperature... or, as I like to think, is it oxygen being produced by the algae in the water (the mug's been around for a while).
Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image! Happy Macro Wednesday :)

I love using my Voigtlander 25mm on close ups. Apparently bubble on the side of a beer glass indicate that it is dirty.. only found this out after I drank the beer. Well I guess we drink and learn.
Looking straight down into a bottle full of bubbles after washing it out.

In a Bottle for Macro Mondays
My thoughts,
dreams,
aspirations and imagination,
are all bubbles waiting to be popped...
Pop them as much as you want
But know this,
It won't get me down,
I can always make more
I knew that the photography of soap bubbles was very difficult on that day. If the rainy season is over, I want to challenge it again.

ぼくはこの日、シャボン玉の撮影はとても難しい事を知りました。 梅雨が明けたらまた挑戦したいです。

For Macro Mondays' "Bubbles" theme. This is a blue glass pitcher with lots of little bubbles in the glass. The out of focus blobs are highlights from the other side of the pitcher. Lighting is done mostly with an Ikea reading light coming in from the top. Background behind the pitcher was black board. The area covered is probably less than an inch across.
My grandmother would have found that to be significant for some reason or another...I think it's just because I just re-filled my cup.
Bubbles in meditation.
(This was a shot of two bubbles right before they merged together. The shape looks like a person sits in meditation, while swirling his/her thumbs. Or it could be any thing you imagine.)
After a few attempts over the last several months, I finally got my first bubble shot!! I'm so thrilled. My mom was blowing bubbles today when we were playing with my 3 year old nephew. It was extra hard to get a shot because he kept chasing and popping them while I was trying to get them in my frame and focus. It was fun. :)
Well, I'm back... Thanks everyone for bearing with me.
I will be posting a few collections / mosaics over the next week or so to showcase some of the beauty, talent and inspiration I have found on Flickr. This is also a token of my appreciation for the wonderful works shared by contacts, friends and fellow Flickrites... I hope you will enjoy viewing these as much as I do.
A word of thanks to all photographers showcased here... Keep up the great work!

Blowing soap bubbles in the sun - what is mor fun, and what is more SUMMER? :)
It has been a cold spring and summer in Iceland, but finally we had some sun on sunday. I really hope the summer is here to stay!
NGC 7635, also known as the Bubble Nebula, Sharpless 162, or Caldwell 11, is an H II region emission nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia. It lies close to the direction of the open cluster Messier 52. The "bubble" is created by the stellar wind from a massive hot, 8.7 magnitude young central star, SAO 20575. The nebula is near a giant molecular cloud which contains the expansion of the bubble nebula while itself being excited by the hot central star, causing it to glow.
Bubbled Blue Eye.
Last time I tried a flying veil with Robert. This time I tried some flying bubbles. Again, because I don't have an assistant, I need to set the camera on timer and blow the bubbles myself. A few soup bubbles flew into Robert's eyes while shooting. Thanks for his patience, and sacrifice!
