I played around with bubbles today with backdrops of my photography on my iphone in the background. I had started with a candle in the background to add light, and it eventually evolved into this.
I never throw away bubble wrap. I have two boxes (big ones!) full of it in my attic. Whenever I get a package in the mail, and it has bubble wrap in it, I get excited. “Free bubble wrap!” The stuff is expensive if you have to buy it. I have things to sell on eBay. I’ll use it someday… I know I will!

We had our two nieces for two nights, and with the nice weather, they wanted to make soap bubbles... Great subject for shooting...:)
Certain kinds of events attract certain kinds of photographers, and the Bubble Battle in Astor Place is one of them. Here, a short while before the battle officially begins, we the media size things up as a few in the crowd test-drive their bubble jalopies.
The Bubble Battle is a glorious bit of urban goofery put on by the folks at New Mind Space. New Mind Space is the team that also mounted the public pillow fight in Union Square a couple of months back, among other projects. Whatever they're up to, they're doing a great job at it.
I take a zillion pictures while the bubbles fly, so there will be more posted here (though not a zillion, just the good ones) - check back if you want to see them. And if you find yourself in my pictures, feel free to let me know with a comment - I'll add your name to the tags, so you'll be searchable.

Have you ever had one of those weeks where bubbles are the only things that will make it better? TGIF
Baby Toy Poodle Puppy behind a large soap bubble. (This is real--it took three helpers to get the shot--one to blow the bubbles, one to blow ON the bubbles to get them in front of the puppy, and one to wrangle the puppy!) (And I forgot--a fourth person hand-holding a strobe with a grid on it, chasing the shot. that's probably the small round light reflected twice in the bubble.) It takes a village, or at least a team.
Charche salivates the second he lays eyes on a treat. At first he starts blowing bubbles but give him a minute and there is a puddle on the ground!
Remember these? This is the History of Bubble Lights.
