Another View of the 'Business End' of the Generator
The armature bearing at the left has two bolts turned into the top now, but in its day there would have been a small glass vial of oil in each hole to keep the journal (the part of the axle in the bearing) lubricated. The lead adjustment handle is visible just to the left of the copper commutator, and the brush sets can be seen contacting the commutator above and below. The armature itself is the black mass to the right, and the bases of its field coils are the black upright cylinders on the far right. The heavy cable that runs from the brushes to the coil base carries the power to the distribution lines and charges the field coils.
If you actually read this, you now know as much as anyone (except for the math) about generating Direct Current electricity!

A friend asked me to put this one together for him. The symbol in the middle is anahata, the heart chakra. Anahata is where connections or "heart strings" to those whom we love are stored.

This is a mockup created using a new Photoshop brushes set created using the fine avian photography of Jim Bevan (permission pending). Also, the background texturing is from another Photoshop brush set I created using vintage books and illustrations, which I call Antiquarian. Just those two brush sets were used in the piece.
