Hand-lettered logotype.

G, H, I: folded a different way, similar to conventional fountain pen, not any more effective than the plain folded nib.

G, I: made from sardine tin in one piece

G: has one broadedge end and one pointed end (see other pic showing the whole pen)

J: 2.5mm angled for arabic script

K: standard folded pointed end

the original folded pen was developed by Matthew Coffin u.s.a in the 1990s!

I've been obsessed with the idea of ice cream and sorbet cocktails, so I made a spiced pear collins with a twist! Clove and cinnamon-spiced pear sorbet with gin, rosemary simple syrup and a little bit of champagne for good measure. Had to letter a little something to celebrate a job well done!

Now I've heard there was a secret chord

That David played, and it pleased the Lord

But you don't really care for music, do ya?

It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth

The minor fall, the major lift

The baffled king composing "Hallelujah"

Your faith was strong but you needed proof

You saw her bathing on the roof

Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya

She tied you to a kitchen chair

She broke your throne, and she cut your hair

And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

You say I took the name in vain

I don't even know the name

But if I did, well really, what's it to ya?

There's a blaze of light in every word

It doesn't matter which you heard

The holy or the broken Hallelujah

I did my best, it wasn't much

I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch

I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool ya

And even though it all went wrong

I'll stand before the lord of song

With nothing on my tongue but hallelujah

Baby, I've been here before

I know this room, I've walked this floor

I used to live alone before I knew you

And I've seen your flag on the marble arch

Love is not a victory march

It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

There was a time you let me know

What's really going on below

But now you never show it to me, do you?

And remember when I moved in you

The holy dove was moving too

And every breath we drew was Hallelujah

Maybe there's a God above

But all I've ever learned from love

Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you

And it's not a cry that you hear at night

It's not somebody who's seen the light

It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

We are happy to introduce the latest font collaboration between Joluvian and Ale Paul for Sudtipos.

www.myfonts.com/fonts/sudtipos/salamat/

Since the release of his first typeface, Zulia Pro, Joluvian has spent his time dedicatedly experimenting with an array of calligraphic styles and typography, before starting on his second typeface, Salamat. The journey began on a trip to Asia, where Joluvian was inspired by his time in the Philippines. After a series of discarded type sketches, the first stroke of what is now Salamat was then born.

What at first was a quick sketch, over time, evolved into a stylized typography; that lends to humanistic-expressive calligraphy, optimized with wide variety of swash capitals, contextuals ligatures, ascending and descending, starting and ending letters and a wide range of characters for each glyph. Salamat provides the user absolute freedom to play, create words, sentences and even very stylized paragraphs. Giving one the freedom with type, the way the Philippines gave Joluvian the freedom to explore calligraphy and typography.

Joluvian considers Salamat a new benchmark in his career. He now possesses more typography maturity, and a refined focus to put into practice all the knowledge acquired in his recent years of study, for this and much more salamat (‘thank you’ in Tagalog) to the Philippines.

ESTÉE LAUDER

it's Estée Lauder's birthday 1 July (1908-2004)

HD lettering music video!

youtu.be/PiFjZ4FerQs

Estee Lauder cultivated her love for beauty products and cosmetics at a young age. Her chemist uncle John Schotz taught her how to make her own face creams. By the time she was a teenager, she was selling her own beauty products at local hair salons. She pioneered two types of customer incentives that would eventually become standard beauty industry practice: the free gift and the gift-with-purchase.

Officially launching Estée Lauder in 1946, she and her husband Joseph made the products in the kitchen of a former restaurant. A year later, Saks Fifth Avenue ordered $800 in products. They sold out in two days.

A generous philanthropist, she created The Lauder Foundation in the 1960s. Her simple quotes reveal her life philosophies which translated into the massive commercial success that would span over 7 decades to the present day.

I'm the dandy highwayman who you're too scared to mention

I spend my cash on looking flash and grabbing your attention

The devil take your stereo and your record collection

The way you look, you'll qualify for next year's old age pension

Stand and deliver

Your money or your life

Try to use a mirror

Not a bullet or a knife

I'm the dandy highwayman so sick of easy fashion

The clumsy boots, peekaboo roots that people think so dashing

So what's the point of robbery when nothing is worth taking?

It's kind of tough to tell a scruff the big mistake he's making

Stand and deliver

Your money or your life

Try to use a mirror

Not a bullet or a knife

And even though you fool your soul

Your conscience will be mine

All mine

We're the dandy highwaymen so tired of excuses

Of deep meaning philosophies where only showbiz loses

We're the dandy highwaymen and here's our invitation

Throw your safety overboard and join our insect nation!

Stand and deliver

Your money or your life

Try to use a mirror

Not a bullet or a knife

And even though you fool your soul

Your conscience will be mine

All mine

Qua qua, da diddly, qua qua, da diddly

Qua qua, da diddly, qua qua, da diddly

Qua qua, da diddly, qua qua, da diddly

Qua qua, da diddly, qua qua, da diddly

Stand and deliver (Qua qua, da diddly, qua qua, da diddly)

Your money or your life (Qua qua, da diddly, qua qua, da diddly)

Stand and deliver (Qua qua, da diddly, qua qua, da diddly)

Your money or your life (Qua qua, da diddly, qua qua, da diddly)

It's a god-awful small affair

To the girl with the mousy hair

But her mummy is yelling, "No"

And her daddy has told her to go.

But her friend is nowhere to be seen

Now she walks through her sunken dream

To the seat with the clearest view

And she's hooked to the silver screen

But the film is a saddening bore

For she's lived it ten times or more

She could spit in the eyes of fools

As they ask her to focus on

Sailors fighting in the dance hall

Oh man, look at those cavemen go

It's the freakiest show

Take a look at the lawman

Beating up the wrong guy

Oh man, wonder if he'll ever know

He's in the best selling show

Is there life on Mars?

It's on America's tortured brow

That Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow

Now the workers have struck for fame

'Cause Lennon's on sale again

See the mice in their million hordes

From Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads

Rule Britannia is out of bounds

To my mother, my dog, and clowns

But the film is a saddening bore

'Cause I wrote it ten times or more

It's about to be writ again

As I ask you to focus on

Sailors fighting in the dance hall

Oh man, look at those cavemen go

It's the freakiest show

Take a look at the lawman

Beating up the wrong guy

Oh man, wonder if he'll ever know

He's in the best selling show

I've seen love go by my door

It's never been this close before

Never been so easy or so slow

I been shootin' in the dark too long

When something's not right, it's wrong

You're gonna make me lonesome when you go

Dragon clouds so high above

I've only known careless love

It always has hit me from below

But this time 'round, it's more correct

Right on, target so direct

You're gonna make me lonesome when you go

Purple clover, Queen Anne lace

Crimson hair across your face

You can make me cry, but you don't know

Can't remember what I was thinking of

You might be spoiling me too much love

You're gonna make me lonesome when you go

Flowers on the hillside blooming crazy

Crickets talking back and forth in rhyme

Blue river running slow and lazy

I could stay with you forever and never realize the time

Situations have ended sad

Relationships have all been bad

Mine have been like Verlaine's and Rimbaud's

But there's no way I can compare

All them scenes to this affair

You're gonna make me lonesome when you go

You're gonna make me wonder what I'm doing

Staying far behind without you

You're gonna make me wonder what I'm saying

You're gonna make me give myself a good talking-to

I'll look for you in old Honolulu

San Francisco or Ashtabula

You're gonna have to leave me, now I know

But I'll see you in the sky above

In the tall grass in the ones I love

You're gonna make me lonesome when you go

Berlin Schöneberg, Juni 2023.

Just before our love got lost you said

"I am as constant as a northern star"

And I said, "Constantly in the darkness

Where's that at?

If you want me I'll be in the bar"

On the back of a cartoon coaster

In the blue TV screen light

I drew a map of Canada

Oh, Canada

With your face sketched on it twice

Oh, you are in my blood like holy wine

You taste so bitter and so sweet

Oh, I could drink a case of you, darling

And I would still be on my feet

Oh, I would still be on my feet

Oh, I am a lonely painter

I live in a box of paints

I'm frightened by the devil

And I'm drawn to those ones that ain't afraid

I remember that time you told me, you said

"Love is touching souls"

Surely you touched mine

'Cause part of you pours out of me

In these lines from time to time

Oh, you are in my blood like holy wine

You taste so bitter and so sweet

Oh, I could drink a case of you, darling

Still I'd be on my feet

I would still be on my feet

I met a woman

She had a mouth like yours

She knew your life

She knew your devils and your deeds

And she said

"Go to him, stay with him if you can

But be prepared to bleed"

Oh, but you are in my blood, you are my holy wine

You're so bitter, bitter and so sweet

Oh, I could drink a case of you, darling

Still I'd be on my feet

I would still be on my feet

I *always* pitch this tagline in re-branding presentations. Tony Lin has the balls to use it.

My barber, Carmine Mosca, employed Brush Script here in a way that demands appreciation. A little tight around the edges, but still great.
