The turquoise-browed motmot also known as Torogoz, is a colourful, medium-sized bird of the motmot family, Momotidae. It inhabits Central America from south-east Mexico, to Costa Rica, where it is common and not considered threatened. It lives in fairly open habitats such as forest edge, gallery forest and scrubland.

Another species that is common in sub-montane elevation. Usually stay high up in the trees but sometimes when there is lower fruiting trees, this bird comes down in numbers. Very difficult to spot in the foliage especially when it is not moving.

Snowy Browed Flycatcher

Snowy-browed Flycatcher, Ficedula hyperythra, Sambar Kening Putih

The snowy-browed flycatcher is a species of bird found in Southeast Asia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Philippines and Taiwan. Usually restricted to the upper mountain zone. The food of the Snowy-browed Flycatcher consists mainly of small insects, spiders, small earthworms and berries. It searches for food at the lower levels of forest edges and clearings, and may run over the ground in undergrowth and along fallen branches. It often flicks its tail and holds its wings slightly drooped but may also sit motionless on a perch, sometimes for long periods.

This Albatross is believed to have lived in Europe since 2014, when he is likely to have been blown off course and left unable to return to his breeding grounds in the South Atlantic. It has now spent at least part of its summer amongst the Bempton Gannet colony on 4 occasions first visting in 2017.

Luckily I got to see him at Bempton Cliffs on my last morning up there. He showed up at 7-45am. Very pleased when he flew above the viewing platform and I got this shot of him even though I clipped the wing a bit .

A Bulbul that lacks a crest. The populations found further south in the Western Ghats, like the ones seen in Kerala, have a brighter yellow shade than the ones found in the state of Maharashtra. Interestingly this bird is considered as the wet-zone counterpart of the dry-zone White-browed Bulbul. It is found mainly below the forest canopy of the hill forests and plantations in the Western Ghats. They feed mainly on berries and insects.

I am very fortunate to live in a town with wildlife corridors which make it possible for people and wildlife to share the space and live in harmony. One such corridor passes by my home; today's theme is bird shots from that corridor.

Red-Browed Finches and Fairy Wrens are known to hang out together, so where you find one, you will also find the other.
