Why do old things are so beautiful? An other brooch of my Mum, with an amazing leaf pattern on a sort of jewelry-metal (not silver).

Nymeria brooch in gold and silver
100 % Original mesh
This is a brooch that I made several years ago with Cynthia Toops. The outside is all sterling silver and created by me, the inside is a polymer micro mosaic done by her.
We wanted to make an alligator and decided to style it after aboriginal paintings that often depict the animals insides. It was a challenge to make what is essentially a two-dimensional space look three-dimensional. The head and eyes were a real challenge but I think I came up with a good solution.
This piece is in my collection and measures approximately 4 7/8" long x 1 1/4" wide.
New knitted brooches in my shop.
I've been tying up a lot of loose ends, finishing projects that I started months ago, getting ready for warmer weather, getting better from being sick, working on my quilt, trying to read a lot more so I have more to think about, clearing out things that I don't need and planning for what I want to do in the next few years. I guess everything good requires a lot of effort, sothat's ok.
The only piece I was able to finish at our retreat in Bad Homburg last weekend. This brooch was made from a pile of scraps I played with while partying on Friday night. I finished it on Saturday with Viva Decor Inka Gold Colors....
“I’ve held onto this brooch for over forty years. I used to frequent the market quite often. I liked seeking out odd pieces. I fancied it the moment I lay my eyes on it, but I had no money at all because I had small children at the time. I remember being disappointed seeing the price, £12, which was a lot of money in those days. The stall holder noticed my reaction and agreed to sell me it on instalments. I wanted to impress someone with it, and it certainly worked!”
I've had this brooch for a very, very long time. If I'm not mistaken, I bought it at an art festival. When I opened my jewel box and saw it sitting there, it's triangle shape struck me as perfect for today's theme. HMM
This tiny brooch, gold with seed pearls representing a wishbone with white heather, belonged to my mum.

Kutless~All Alone
Icy chills round your heart
A heart that's made of stone
It seems like
Life is out to get you
To destroy what you want
I know that, that you blame me for all that you go through
It could be, so different if you would just let it go
You're all alone
Running out of ways to
Hold on to hope
And it always slips away
You're all alone
But you don't have to
Pretend to cope
There is a brighter way
If you would change your perspective
You'd see that it is true
Life is not always what you want
Sometimes it's hard to bear
I'd be with you, and help you in all that you go through
I love you, let Me change your heart by coming in
You're all alone
Running out of ways to
Hold on to hope
And it always slips away
You're all alone
But you don't have to
Pretend to cope
There is a brighter way
This is a crocheted poppy brooch I made especially for this weeks Smile on Saturday theme. I did not have any poppy photos nor anything else poppy, so I chose to make a poppy instead.
