Villages that were once full of life, now plunged into abandonment and condemned to fall; they are symbol of the demise of a whole traditional way of life. The cloudy sky and the fine rain, combined with the shuddering silence that pervaded there, created a truly evocative gloomy atmosphere impregnated with nostalgic romanticism.

Wellington suspension bridge in Aberdeen. The bridge was opened to pedestrians in November 1830 and to traffic in 1831. It was closed in 1984 to vehicles and then to pedestrians in 2002, The bridge was restored in 2006/07 and pedestrian use was reinstated in 2008.
This shot was taken with my Zenza Bronica ETRS, with Zenzanon E II 75mm f/2.8 lens. I used Fujichrome Provia colour reversal film, ISO 100 (dated 1998!).
Exposure was 1/500 f/2.8.
The film was processed commercially and I scanned the negatives using an Epson V550 scanner. Digital processing was in Lightroom along with the Silver Efex Pro 2 plugin.
Leaving 2019 is slowing down, and I am looking forward to new days with good old friends. Luckily my cameras are ready for 2020 and films are on the shelves. It will be fun and full of new skills. Thanks for 2019. I wish you all a happy new year.

Taken at Aberdeen beach, in north-east Scotland. The tree trunk must have floated in and has embedded itself in the sand, looking like it belongs there.

Despite the (deliberate) bokeh, you can see some of the offshore wind turbines. These are enormous (hub height above sea level is 120 metres) and the 11-turbine farm generates up to 93.2 MW. More info at wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Offshore_Wind_Deployment_C...

Photograph taken in August 1987 of the grade 2 listed WCA Warehouse in Bristol, one of the earliest reinforced concrete framed buildings in the UK, built around 1909-1912. I'm not absolutely sure but I think this building was adapted around the end of the 20th century for housing. Bronica ETRS rollfilm SLR. 1078_120B097_09.jpg
