Ornate marble headstone in the Belgian Gardens Cemetery in Townsville has succumbed to the pressures of time. September Challenge.
This old cemetery is long forgotten now...no one keeps it up. It is land-locked and we had to get permission to pass over private land to get to it. A gentleman was kind enough to lead us through his backyard and point us in the right direction. Apparently a fire swept through in the 1980s, and destroyed most of the markers at the time, as they were mostly made from wood. What remains is a beautiful, lonely piece of land, with about 60 graves, and maybe about 20 markers. The grounds overlook the city of Durango, and the mountains surrounding.

For Obscura Day, it was a trip to Fermilab, the geek Mecca in Batavia, Illinois.
Broken Symmetry, on the Pine Street Entrance. It's a three-span arch, painted black on one side and orange on the other.
Fermilab has decided to ban photography groups from taking tours. To quote Katie Yurkewicz, the Fermi PR person
"Our tour program is not designed to accommodate groups whose primary interest is photography. We are not resourced to be able to regularly guide such tours safely."

Canadian indie supergroup Broken Social Scene headlined the Royal Athletic Park mainstage on September 23rd, 2011 for the Rifflandia Music Festival. It was one of their last performances before going on an indefinite hiatus.
Dropped my camera while being searched on the way in to a concert (the fellow didn't mind the camera, he just didn't give me enough time to put it away and it fell before making it into my pocket)...battery door is busted..@#$@$%!!
Oddly it "works" if you let the lone remaining clip back by the hinge secure it and can see the batteries. Holding it shut firmly seems to be more hit or miss power wise...
Update: Dropped it off to be shipped out for repair. Estimate is $65 dollars and may take 6-12 weeks...
