Bodie, an old gold and silver mining town beginning in about 1870, lasted until about 1930 before closing for good. Hence the broken down cars that remain in Bodie today. Interestingly, Bodie lies at 8000 ft. of elevation and suffers from severe winters. So, as much as the gold rush in Bodie which drew 10,000 residents, it must have been a horrific place to live - disease, daily murders, etc. A quote from a young girl in the East that was relocating to Bodie with her family was, "Goodbye God, I'm going to Bodie".
My old analogue television broke whilst viewing a load of my images. This was a shame, as it meant no more TV, but also interesting in terms of the fuzzy, skewed images that came out. Here they are.
This one is a chandelier in Poland. Abstracted through a broken TV in Wales. Uploaded via a computer in Paris. What a world we live in, eh.
Back to the analog way that Lomography calls their rule : the surprise of taken pictures by a shitty camera after fimprocessing. I have another rule : break the display of your shitty digital camera...
I got no lips, I got no tongue
Where there were eyes, there's only space
I got no lips, I got no tongue
Okay, so it's not perfect.
It's not really even that good.
But it's the best I could do, considering I'm really bad with photoshop.
Now you ask me to move past;
forward with this hurt inside.
Broken now; and falling apart.
Touch the clock of time; turn it back
for the mercy of my soul.
I can not move . . . past this pain;
words, feelings and disguise;
the truth is out; it can not hide.
My anger fills me and I am hushed.
Not bruised; but broken
heart beats in crazed rhythm;
it's hard to say what I'll do
if I'm pushed.
I walk away; turn off the phone;
your words haunting my soul.

While I was surfing the web the other day, my computer did a Microsoft automatic update. When the update finished downloading, my computer rebooted and when it started up again, I got the blue screen. I couldn't restart my computer...not even in safe mode. After about 3 days of trying different things, I reloaded Windows XP and about 60 updates. After about 45 minutes, I was up and running again!
I managed to smash the glass on the viewfinder of my s5500. (photo taken with my old Canon A30.) [more info]

This hole doesn't look so much like a broken heart today as it did to me yesterday!

Some Thoughts...
Last weekend I was feeling really down - feeling lost and helpless. The reasons behind it are a bit too personal for mentioning here, but it did lead me to seeing this scene in my head and recreating it as best as I could. I hope it is self-explanatory in terms of emotions...
I'm also a little shy about uploading this because I don't usually show so much of my body... but I saw no other better way in my head to really bring out the sense of fragility. Just like patients when under general anesthetic - they are so vulnerable, so fragile...
Something aside - I had an extremely long and tiring, but fantastic week since then, having a surgical rotation with one of the best doctors I've ever met - specifically a consultant vascular surgeon. Great man in so many ways - highly knowledgeable, skilled, thoughtful, caring and inspiring. Made me feel really great this week - even if I was waking up at 5 every morning to be able to hear his words of wisdom and just appreciate the sweet kind aura that radiates from his small stature but big heart.

5 minutes after I took this shot, I slipped and fell on my head trying to avoid shattering my camera lens. My filters, including my ND filter, shattered but my lens was safe. This was taken out at Muriwai in New Zealand. I had 6 stitches, and blood was running down my face, many people with iphones taking videos where present.
