Each winter this happens, however, the broken terracotta pots are good for planting in new pots - just break them up and place them at the bottom of the planter and after watering or rainfall, all is good and porous.

A Symbol for Peace - The Broken Chair - Geneva,
The giant ‘Broken Chair’, a work of art in wood, symbolises the campaign against landmines.
The chair stands on only three legs. Its image has travelled to all 4 corners of the globe making it one of the 21st century's most emblematic works of art
‘Broken Chair’ is the work of sculptor Daniel Berset. It was made in 1997 for the NGO Handicap International. Its message is simple: remember the victims of landmines, urge your government to promote a ban on landmines. To illustrate this combat, the Broken Chair stands on three legs, the fourth being splintered half way up. The Chair stands proudly to a height of 12 metres and has an air of dignity. Nearby: the European headquarters of the United Nations, guided tours.

Caught the sign message in front of Quiznos Sub, in PPG Palace, downtown Pittsburgh during lunch rush hour.

Living near a main road, there's always some traffic-related incident going on. Today I found a shattered, but intact, wing mirror on the pavement. Wow, I thought, those reflections are wild, wacky, manic - I love them! And so begins a new project....

I can only imagine the story behind this. I found it while out looking for the Aurora Australis at an old gun battery South of Hobart. A fire had been made right where the gun used to sit. The guitar broken and singed as you see it.
This is before restyling the tree. The top was broken off when my winter storage greenhouse collapsed during a recent snow and ice storm. The broken top is folded toward the front of the photo.
Shot after a storm raged Nordre Skøyen Hovedgård in Oslo, Norway in July 2010. During the several hour long storm, lightning struck on average 1000 times per hour.

The building Broken Angel is a unique melding of art and architecture designed by my father Arthur Wood, and located in the Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn. The original building was bought at a city auction in 1979, and major construction was completed in 2002. On 10/10/06 a structure at the top of Broken Angel caught fire. Thanks to the quick action of the New York City fire department no one was harmed, and only minimal damage was done to the building. Unfortunately the fire brought the attention of the department of buildings (DOB) who vacated my parents, the owners and guardians of Broken Angel. My family is currently working with the architecture firm, Jordan Parnass Digital Architecture www.jpda.net/news.html, to bring the building to code, however we are still being threatened with demolition by the DOB. On Wednesday 11/15/06 the Brooklyn Supreme Court will begin hearings on whether the actions of the DOB are justified. Additionally we will be selling photographs and paintings as a fundraiser at Artez’n (444 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn NY). These works of art can also be viewed and purchased on line at www.artezn.com/product/?product_id=5246 .We are attempting to raise funds to save the building and develop it in a way that will help the community. In selling our art work we are hoping to make Broken Angel a permanent art installation and fixture of Brooklyn. The end of the trail to Broken Hill at Torrey Pines, where the hill crumbles away at both sides into a thin knife. The rock is very soft here, and erosion turns it into fantastic ripples.
