seen in Ota, Gunma, Japan

Even on this calm evening, there was a wind up here (and not the ghosts of baked-beans past either), so in a real howler, you can see that trees can be vulnerable

A snail with a crushed shell. He was still alive when I took this picture.

This photo from my entry, Broken Snail, where you can see an animation of him still moving.

On the LeMond. Broken in Iron Springs, PA - thankfully, I wasn't hurt, and was able to hobble back to an aid station on the Civil War Century route.

"What’s your greatest fear?"

"Falling in love, having my heart broken"

"Have you been there?"

"Almost, I never tolerate it though. You never know what the other person is thinking, they could have their eyes on someone else the whole time. It’s an open book for fear to be honest."

broken windows from a country house in ruins

Amber and I decided to do some shooting today. This area is basically down the street from my apartment. I've been wanting to do a shoot there for a while because of the ability to separate the subject from the background via distance. After shooting a little while, Amber had the great idea to pop the hood and make it look like she was stranded. So, I cannot take credit for the creativity behind this series--I can only take credit for moving around the lights, giving direction, and snapping the pictures. ;-)

strobist: 1 Vivitar 285HV, camera right, 1/2 power, shot through a white umbrella. 1 Vivitar 285HV, camera left, pointed at the hood, 1/16 power, bare, used to bring out detail in the underside of the hood. Triggered via Cybersyncs.

Swift Meat Packing Plant

Fort Worth, Texas

This was taken along a trail at PegHorn Nature Park and Trail in St. Cloud, FL. There was a small cherub statue underneath a tree that caught my eye as I walked past it, so I decided to snap a few shots of it. Moving to the back of the statue, I saw that the statue's arm was actually broken but still hanging on.

I just purchased some software from ASAP, a vendor that was recently acquired by Dell. The software comes on DVD in a standard DVD case. That was packaged in the brown envelope, which was delivered in the white envelope. I've added the measurements so you get the full effect of my indignation.

Why did they do this? And no, it wasn't a fragility issue - the brown envelope is a bubble wrap mailer itself, and has plenty of padding.

I was given this clock as a birthday gift, but it was broken!

This image is portraying emotions and feelings felt from unhealthy relationships.

"Broken Chair" made for Handicapped International, an anti-landmine NGO by Swiss Visual Artist, Daniel Berset in 1997. This huge chair is placed in United Nations Square, in front of the United Nations European Headquarters (Place des Nations), Geneva, Switzerland. It represents the victims of landmines.
