Found this strange object while walking in Rincon Valley Community Park in Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, California. Taken with my iPhone 14 Pro Max set to Raw and Macro settings.

If you have children, usually you also have pencils which are broken. But in this case, the childs are not guilty! I simply don't found any broken pencil, so I did it myself. My youngest has already complained about it. But when he heard, that this was for Macro Mondays, he has kindly agreed to this destructive act.

I hope it was worth it - what do you think? HMM!

My son put out the bird bath too early this year and it froze then broke

Here's the story: I accidentally smashed my $1,600 24mm 1.4 L-lens after taking it ouf of my backpack. Since I always look on the bright side of things, I saw this as a challenge to grow. Let's create a set with a broken cam that can't even focus anymore. This is what I came up with:

A trippy & abstract photo set dipped in red about broken characters captured with a broken lens by a former broken soul. I took this set in the drug-filled, sex-addicted veins of the most liberal city on earth: Amsterdam! An incredibly intense 3-week journey of getting to know all drug dealers and sex workers personally, feeling the liberating, but sometimes rather creepy vibe on the streets and eventually being accepted as the creative soul of this unique district.

Why not view the set as a slide-show?

Also I often upload more than one image at the same time, I see a tendency to only view the last uploaded...

Macro Mondays: Broken

Images likes these / go by the dozen.

Thought about doing a macro on my wife's cell phone. Tried to capture the broken screen (which breaks like within 2 weeks after every fix)

They told us life would be better with market liberalism...

Arax 60 + CZ Sonnar 180 + Kodak Portra160

Rocks (from previous hoodoos?) forming a broken circle on a slickrock slope with an impressive hoodoo in the background. (A confession: The two rocks in the immediate foreground came from a Lightroom AI modification. There was one big rock in the foreground that I thought was too dominant and distracting, so I used the AI removal tool to"break" the rock into smaller parts).

Time has not been kind.

bighugelabs.com/flickr/onblack.php?id=124204962&posted=1 yeah, there's a reason why the quotes aren't just around "broken". ah, esoteria. long live the unexplained.

we are all broken in various ways .... doesn't mean we are not beautiful too !!

Afternoon sun on a broken wall at the back of the house.

Shot from the balcony of a flat overlooking the rear of this property.

“What is that Sky?” Asked Bertie.

“Broken.” Replied Sky.

“I can see that but what was it before it got broken?”

“I’m not sure Bertie, I was going to ask Posh but it doesn’t seem to matter now it is broken.”

“True, so how did it become broken?”

“Not sure Bertie, it could have been when it hit the brick wall or when Elli stood on it.”

“What were you doing with it then?”

“I was skimming it and seeing how far I could make it go when there was this wall in the way and instead of going around or above it like most sensible things it went bang right into it. Elli saw it and to stop it flying away again she placed her foot on it.”

“Sounds a lot of fun though Sky?”

“Yes, it was but it doesn’t matter it’s broken as I found a whole load of them that the man had hidden away so I can soon find another to play with.”

“Oh well, that is all right then. I wonder what he had been writing on it before you borrowed it Sky?”

“I wondered that too. Posh do you know what this is and what is written on it?”

“I’m not sure Sky but it has something to do with that picture screen the man uses sometimes. I think I have seen him using one similar in the past. I can read what it says but it makes no sense but then that is mainly because the man doesn’t make sense most of the time.”

“What does it say Posh?” Asked Bertie.

“Laptop back-up Bertie. Means nothing to me and if he has loads more, I’d say he’ll probably not miss a few of them if you and Sky want to play. Just make sure you don’t skim it to one another as it could be quite dangerous if one of you didn’t catch it and it hits you.”

“No, we’ll take it out in the big field and skim it out there, if we have one each, we can see who can skim it the furthest.”

“That will mean a lot of running about to fetch it again Bertie.” Said Posh

“No problem, we can get that covered if we take the dog Spot, as he is stupid enough to chase after anything and everything.”

“Ah, but will he bring it back again to you after he has chased after it?”

“I think he will Posh, me and Sky know where the man keeps the dog treats.”

“That normally does the trick. You two could be way smarter than you look.”

“Thanks Posh… I think.” Said Sky.

Half an hour later.

“Did you enjoy that Bertie?” Asked Posh

“No, it was hard work and I’m out of breath chasing the skimmy thing.”

“I thought you were taking Spot to chase it and had a clever plan to ensure he brought it back to you again?”

“Slight problem with that plan Posh.” Said Sky looking as out of breath as his friend.

“What was wrong with your plan then?”

“We don’t speak dog and Spot doesn’t speak bear so he didn’t chase after the skimmy thing, but instead lay in the sun and ate the treats, then fell asleep.” Said Sky.

“Win some, lose some…” Said Posh laughing.
