"Vou deixar a vida me levar
Pra onde ela quiser,
Seguir a direção,
Viver.
Seguindo a direção...
Lá vamos nós!... ... ...

Just after 11 am we arived at the Mohaka River Bridge....
Built in 1962, the two-lane, steel-framed Mohaka River Bridge is located in an isolated area along the Napier-Taupo Road (State Highway 5). Elevated 50 metres above water level on two reinforced-concrete piers, it stretches 215 metres across the river – providing a vital thoroughfare for freight and passenger traffic throughout the year.
Thanks to all who take the time to visit and comment on my photo stream....it's greatly appreciated. Also for all of the invitations to join or post my photos into groups!

A blue hour photo just following heavy rain. The 3 minute exposure brought out a pleasing effect in the clouds and contributed to the deep colours.
The old new Alexandra Bridge. The original was built in 1861 and damaged by high water in 1894. Thirty years later in 1926 as the automobile became popular, the Provincial Government decided to build a new bridge on the same site as the original one. It was closed in 1964 as a new bridge was built 2 kilometres (1.25m) south of here. In 1984 the Alexandra Bridge Provincial Park was established to protect the area's historical values.
My last shot of last Saturday morning... The tide was heading out and just revealing the path... the sun was a bit harsh and bright so I thought a 2 shot HDR would be best shot over a LE. I thought this would be a high contrast BnW edit... but I decided the colour looked better... despite messing about with the filters the BnW just didn't have enough punch almost.... I just preferred the colour!

In NYC this is my favourite bridge the Queensboro Bridge it is a cantilever bridge which connects Queens with Manhattan passing over the top of Roosevelt Island.
I love the metal work of the bridge it has a really interesting mesh look to it. The bridge supports cars trains and pedestrians it has different levels for all of these type of travellers.
Here is some infomation about the bridge from Wikipedia
The Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge, also known as the 59th Street Bridge – because its Manhattan end is located between 59th and 60th Streets – or simply the Queensboro Bridge, is a cantilever bridge over the East River in New York City that was completed in 1909. It connects the neighborhood of Long Island City in the borough of Queens with Manhattan, passing over Roosevelt Island. It carries New York State Route 25 and is the westernmost of the four East River spans that carry a route number: NY 25 terminates at the west (Manhattan) side of the bridge, which once carried NY 24 andNY 25A as well. The bridge is flanked on its northern side by the freestanding Roosevelt Island Tramway.
In December 2010, the city announced that the bridge would be renamed in honor of former Mayor Ed Koch from the Queensboro Bridge to the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge. The renaming decision was unpopular among Queens residents and business leaders, and many locals continue to refer to the bridge by its older name

heard there were wildfires up in Calistoga and thought I'd see if I could get some dramatic eastern skies, but that didn't happen. Good enough for an early morning outing though
BNSF M-CHIGAL crosses the Sanitary and Ship Canal over a former 1899 swing bridge, known as Bridge 24B during the Santa Fe days, behind a rebuilt ex-BN SD60M. This was one of eight bridges on the Sanitary between Chicago and Lockport that was converted into a moveable bridge to allow the passage of 28 Gato-class and Balao-class submarines built in Manitowoc during World War II.
