The theme for "Smile on Saturday" on the 16th of March is "blurred & beautiful". The night before the theme was announced, I was with some photographer friends who were discussing the pros and cons of keeping all photographs, even the ones that don’t turn out. I am one of those people that do keep them, because even if they did not work out as I might have wished, they may still prove beautiful – even if not planned – and may come in handy, as this shot has for this week’s theme. About a month ago, I took a trip to the Victorian country town of Castlemaine to see a fantastic private collection of beautiful wedding frocks dating from the 1830s through to the 1980s. This is a close up shot I took of the beautiful gold lace used to decorate a wedding frock from the 1930s. Being vintage and fragile, the fabrics were kept in lower light to protect them, which also made capturing some of these finer details more difficult, where only a small amount of movement by me as the photographer can result in a blurred shot. However, as the theme implies, this is actually a rather beautiful shot for its blurriness. It implies a sense of movement that this dress would once have had when the blushing bride walked down the aisle in it in 1936. I hope you like my choice for this week’s theme, and that it makes you smile!

Statue of Hanuman from the Malai tola village nar Attock. There are many deserted Hindu temples in that area. A local had the statue and just wanted to show me. It looked like an authentic piece.

(Pakistani Wedding) My Niece The Bride Walks On Stage With Her Brother & Parents Alongside - Day 1 - IMRAN™

Despite being part of the host family for the event, I somehow managed not just to welcome the groom's family, socialize with guests already there from our side of the family, and keep an eye on things, but also to take multiple photos and videos in 2D and in full 360x360 using my Nikon D850, iPhone 13 Pro Max, Insta360, and another camera. And I managed to do that from different spots, ahead of the bride and family, behind them, alongside them, and ahead of them again on stage. That is where I got this beautiful memorable photo framing the moments of my niece's wedding.

Another beautiful unknown mosque near Malai tola..

My hand is a little better but there are some other complexities that need a little time to go away. I have not done much photography in past few months so I try to go out in the evening more often and use photography as therapy.

(Pakistani Wedding) The Beautiful Bride's Happy Family With Dashing New Son In Law - Day 1 - IMRAN™

Once my niece Iman had safely navigated up the always tricky walkways red carpets cover, she sat as the smiling bride next to her handsome and happy bridegroom, with her parents (my sister and brother in law) and brother alongside. They were being photographed by the multiple photographer teams at the event but I managed to capture this happy moment from the side. Ironically, the photo I clicked a moment after this has my niece's smile even brighter but both my sister and her son had their eyes closed in that instant.

(Pakistani Wedding) Ready, Set... Sit (For Pics!) - Day 1 - IMRAN™

Just a cute candid photo as one of the photographers adjusted the corner of the handsome groom's shirwani (classic long coat worn by Muslim princes and nawabs in the old days, and worn at formal occasions like weddings). Shirwani is also one of the five daily uniform/clothes changes my classmates and I used to go through in our daily routines at Kelly House, the boarding school I was at, at Aitchison College, Lahore, in Pakistan. My niece, the beautiful bride's genuinely beaming smile lights up the room. I also managed to capture more of the foliage and flowers on stage behind her and her groom.

(Pakistani Wedding) Finally Side By Side, Beautiful Beaming Bride & Dashing Handsome Groom - Day 1 - IMRAN™

After a few photographs, my sister, her husband, and her son left the stage, and before others started taking their turns to get photographed with the beaming beautiful couple, I managed to squeeze the shutter button and capture a few shots like this from the side. There were plenty of photographers taking more elaborate and formal pictures from in front of the stage so I wanted some candid ones from this angle. You can even see a fancy lens from one of those cameras protruding into the picture to the right side. I did not crop this completely unedited-colors photo more, because I wanted to capture the details of the floral arrangements that my niece and her parents had spent a lot of time and attention on.
