Most random is the pattern of fallen leaves, but the brick colors look also somewhat random. iPhone 8+ photo.

Today was a bit misty but I had the opportunity to go out with Jude, Diane and Shirley for a great fun day.

Great skill in laying this herringbone brickwork so perfectly. It’s the outside wall of the dressing room for footballers, at Towneley park.

Thanks for all your visits, faves, and comments. Much appreciated.
A trip to North wales this weekend saw some new location scouting, this led us to the old brickworks on Anglesey. A pleasant, warm evening out with Tim, Paul and Tei. Tim lighting up the insides of the kilns here while I lit the outsides while Paul was answering the call of nature and Tei was capturing spooky ghosts on his sensor! excellent weekend as always. Slight adjustments in Lightroom and a crop

Porth Wen Brickworks is a now disused Victorian brickworks which produced fire bricks, made from quartzite used to line steel-making furnaces. The substantial remains include a number of buildings and the remains of some of the machinery, but has some damage from sea erosion.

A bit of a risky shot because of the high winds. The wind forecast was 18mph but being at the coast it was more like 20mph with 30mph gusts! Thats pretty close to my drones limit but being in a sheltered cove i thought i'd risk it. I soon realised after take-off it wasn't a good idea and then i lost connection with the drone and it went into "Return To Home" mode. For safety reasons i have my drone set to go to 70 metres altitude before returning home which made the wind even more sketchy! Luckily i regained control and took a few photos before landing/
… and a fence
I built this wall and fence 20 years ago, in 2003.
I didn’t know then that it would form part of, and support for the deck.
Initially it was just a dividing wall & fence between us and our next door neighbours.
In fact it’s a series of walls each one measuring 8 bricks long (or 1790mm) in between each wall is a 100mm x 100mm (4” x 4”) timber post which is concreted in.
When I was setting this out I first concreted the posts 1790mm apart. I then laid the foundation concrete, followed by building the walls.
By doing it this way I could build a solid fence on the top of the wall.
This Spring I’ll give the fence another coat of Cuprinol Ducksback fence paint, and it’ll be good for another couple of years … then I’ll paint it again.
I put the 6ft vertical boards on both sides of the horizontal boards that stretch from post to post; that way the wind can get through, but you can’t see through.
Where does the time go? 20 years ago!!!

Continuous kiln viewed from a train approaching Jinpeng on the Jitong Railway in the Mongolian Autonomous Region of China. The straw covers await the drying bricks during the summer burning season. The extremely low winter temperatures preclude brickmaking at that time.
Stitched Panorama from the DV Brickworks in Toronto. Beautiful place for a walk, barely anyone there, a hidden gem in the city, I think.
Almost all the old bricks in Toronto from mined from this yard. Now it is covered up and overgrown.
A great place to see some cool geology as well.
