Staalhemel (‘steel sky’) is an interactive installation with 80 steel segments suspended over the visitor’s head as he walks through the space. Tiny hammers tap rhythmic patterns on the steel plates, activated by the brainwaves of the visitor who wears a portable EEG scanner.
This responsive environment confronts the viewer with an acoustic representation of the electrical brain activities that govern his being at that very moment. All our mental and physiological processes are controlled by myriads of transitory circuits in an invisible, obscure place in the crown of our head. That intimate topography is mirrored in this sky of steel as hammers hit the plates in shifting rhythms and combinations, transforming parts of your consciousness into macroscopic dimensions.
This environment offers a walk through a sheltered space that is also the space of one’s own mind.
another from the weekend...farkin' harry and ed found this hollow log, and had a brainturd brainwave, putting it end up to form a chimney...it looks a little like a little vesuvius...
It was a brilliant idea, but not a new one. On reading the Log Book, we discovered that visitors had been bringing in wine-in-a-box for years.
Having found that the ATtiny85 didn't have enough memory to hold my brainwave visualisations code, I put together a little Shrimp circuit to hook up the LED matrix and Bluetooth dongle. Attention data levels is visualised as red LEDs and meditation data levels as green LEDs.

One laptop musician is shown silhouetted against a bar chart that showed various brainwave activity of the composer Sara Corry who wore a sensor on her head. The bars projected against a background screen changed in height as various brainwaves – Delta, Theta, Low Alpha, High Alpha, Low Beta, High Beta and Gamma – changed in activity.

Beverly...(With the holy virgin having mistaken beverly’S big upper lip as a landing strip)... Seen here just prior to a conjunction of two conflicting and explosive moments... One occurring within, and the other without... (One in beverly’S bottom, and the other behind)... And with little mort becoming alarmed the normally effective breeze generated from his propeller-topped yarmulke would not be sufficient to diminish the heat... (It was going to be incendiary... It was inevitable)...
With beverly on the very edge of becoming her other self - mrs. Rogers...Becoming misaligned in her mind...Suffering from shorted-out brainwaves... Conflicted but simultaneously arriving messages...Being sent to her from two big daddies, even if both daddies only imagined... The one whom her half-sister kathleen had told her was god... (Living in the top of the castle on the nut farm in arkansas, where beverly normally spent her days) ... And the other living someplace in a recently constructed castle, of sorts, in georgia... (With both locations being states of mind, to boot)...
And the flora and the fauna were hopelessly mixed... (And it was all getting ready to blow)...

i bought a camera stand ages ago and also a box for your acrylic paints when out 'n' about....the box is so small i had a brainwave this morning to make a paint set for Stella ..just need to add some paint on the perspex,underneath is grey cardboard...roll on Spring....
Hattonvale church, later relocated to Glamorganvale (late 80s, I forget the exact year but it was on the farm by 1990).
So the story. The church had been deconsecrated, the land had been sold and the furniture etc was all being sold off - pews, organ, even the bell. Plus, the actual building. All at auction.
My parents put in a bid, nobody else put in a bid, and suddenly they owned a church. But not the land it was sitting on. So, they needed to move it to the land they did own, some 26km away - and much further when you need to take roads that fit a church on a truck (bridges are not your friend).
Moving buildings isn't quite as unusual as sounds, so a little while later the church rolled in to its new home very early one morning.
The funniest bit was to come years later, when they got a phone call from the local pub one night. Apparently an argument was raging in the bar, with one guy convinced the church had always been there; and another convinced it had been moved in more recently. With the two guys ready to take the dispute outside, someone had the brainwave of looking up the number and just asking. I hope the first guy stood the next round...
My version of the Make Magazine Brain Machine installed inside an old case for a Linksys wifi bridge. Added external switch, plug for glasses, and resistors to lower output volume.
