Invader Rubikcubist

From 24/06/2022 till 08/01/2023 Invader had an exhibition in the MiMa Museum (Millennium Iconoclast Museum of Art) in Bruxelles (Molenbeek Saint-Jean) under the titel Invader Rubikcubist.

Since the late 1990's, Invader has been clandestinely invading the street of the world with his mosaics which appear as if they have come straight out of an old school video game. There are now more than 4,000 of them scattered across 80 cities around the world; in the suburbs of Tokyo, on the letters of the Hollywood sign, atop of the Tour Eiffel, in the Tunesian desert, since one of his creations is orbiting the Earth 16 times a day aboard the ISS space station.

In 2003, for the first time, Invader introduced references to a cult object into his compositions; the Rubik's Sube. A year later, he created Rubik's Space One, a small sculpture composed of nine cubes. This was the starting point of the movement that the artist has called "Rubikcubism", a nod to Braque and Picasso's cubism and the name of the Hungarian inventor of the famous brainteaser.

The rain was starting to clear when we made our way back in the direction of the station to come home. I couldn't resist a reflection shot in this puddle! (And yes, I know it's upside down!)

I was thrilled by a photo of Dasa Severova, which she made at the Italian Convention in Vicenza.

Oh mei , this Origami was an absolutely challenge for me :-) !

It looks sooo easy, but there were some cups of coffee and hours of puzzling with my origami friend Anett necessary to solve this brainteaser. May be not for others, but for me :))!

Shuzo Fujimoto shows three different Chains of Flowers in his book. This one is till now the easier one for me.... :))

I hope you like it.

- The one who tells me why I chose this color will earn 2 points.

- The one who tells me what this abstract is made of - in other words what I shot - will get another 3 points.

- Finally, the one who marks correctly (with a square note on the image) the point I set the focus on - it is a crossing, multiple marks possible - will be able to complete the 10 points adding another 5 points

The winner will be announced tomorrow night (Hamburg time) and will receive a +100 words appreciation of his last uploaded image;)

Technical: Handheld, f/1.8, 1/160s, ISO250, 28mm.

I chose to do a project for 2012 to improve my photography. The plan is to take pictures on as many days as possible and post a picture of 2012 each day.

A series of sixteen 3-dimentional geometric puzzles made of paper - anyone interested in publishing/producing them?

“Who in the world am I? Ah, that's the great puzzle.”

―(Lewis Carroll , Alice in Wonderland)―

“Why should things be easy to understand?”

―(Thomas Pynchon)―

About to begin a puzzle, the pieces poured out onto the table, a thousand tiny individual mysteries waiting to be solved.

Everybody have their own brain teasers in life.

My grandma, is facing a toughest one among them.

of age

of loniless

of betrayal

I came across brain teasers, during the adolescent entrances.

i solved many in paper.

but in life one still teases my brain

and often takes me to the delicate border between reason and madness..

life and death..

of existing and fading away.

i'm trying to solve it again and again.

... at least for me!

80’s brain teasers

Macro Monday project – 08/29/11

"Eighties"

This brain teaser has circulated widely on business cards and in various media. In most versions, however, the sentence with the Fs begins with the words "finished files" rather than "fewer fatal failures."

For an experiment that sought to determine why it's difficult to spot all the Fs in this sentence, see J. Don Read, "Detection of Fs in a Single Statement: The Role of Phonetic Recoding," Memory and Cognition 11 (1983): 390-99 (the author first encountered the "finished files" version of the sentence on a motel business card).

How's Your IQ?

This is a trick--so don't say we didn't warn you. Read this sentence:

Fewer fatal failures are the result of scientific study combined with the experience of years.

Now, count the F's in that sentence only once. Don't go back and count them again.

-----

There are seven F's in the sentence you just read. Av. spots 4. Above av. 5, 6 you can turn your nose at most anybody. If you count all 7 you're a genius. A lot to good to waste your time with this.

It's now time to buy your new or used radio.

R. A Yost - "Printer"

Business cards, billheads, name cards, letterheads,

Presenting!

We have a wooden brain teaser at my home and I decided to make a Lego version of it. None of the pieces are clipped together after the pieces are built. It holds itself together by the shape of the pieces. As far as I know, this is the first Lego brainteaser.

_________________________

Also a large thank you to my older brother for the photo/video-graphing and also for making the video.

WAY back in 1998 when I did a first time back visit to the home land of England I was more than excited to find some nice diecast collectables. I went into the store and there was a big display of Vanguards diecast models designed and built in England all on sale, how could I pass that up. I really didn't have the money, but then of course I did so here is one I really like. This a model of a Ford Anglia Panel Van used as a Road Service AA van, which in America is known as Triple A, AAA. I remember seeing the AA vehicles a lot when I was a kid and of course I had to have this. I always loved the looks of the Anglia and the vans and wagons.

The Anglia is sitting on a game by a company called Binary Arts brainteaser called Roadside Rescue, which is a puzzle and quite an interesting game, it was a perfect setting for the AA Van.

A3 – B3
