Unique pair of hand carved and hand painted teak brackets from India. Painted a beautiful palate of red, green, and yellow and thoroughly distressed. These brackets are very solid and were traditionally installed on verandas and porticoes. Add some architectural interest to your home or simply use them as decoration.

I learned something this morning. I can bracket (5x 3EV) with a Neutral Density Filter on the lens, creating a well-exposed long-exposure.

This is an instance where I needed more light than I had brackets for. It was everything I could do to get f/8 in full sun. Totally sucked.
Did a little more investigating of the log-inhabiting fungus pictured yesterday. First of all, they are very woody inside and hard as a rock... no eating these. Second, the brilliant white pores on the underside bruise easily to leave a brown mark. Maybe this is so-called "Artist's Conk"?
Most likely old Fistulina hepatica. "Häränkieli" in Finnish. They are bright red/orange when younger.

I took this photo because the stump of this tree had the biggest bracket fungus I have ever seen growing on it.

I don't know what this is. It was about 20cm wide and growing from the trunk of a mature Scots Pine, about 2 metres up. It has a brown velvety appearance on top and seemed fairly woody. A Polypore of some sort? I'd be very pleased for someone to ID.

Feedscrew for 618, using Acme 1/2-10 below the existing leadscrew. This is a lamentably blurry shot of the bearing side of the headstock bracket.
