Around April 1971 on Dudleys Fields Estate a trolleybus replacement 20-years-old Birmingham Guy Arab bus (of the 2564 JOJ564 series) is delayed whilst F J Berry of Leicester remove a bracket arm from a traction pole.
This infrastructure was installed in 1961 with trolleybuses ceasing to use this road in October 1970.

Today, I got a bracket to mount the remote for my Sony action cam to my gimbal. This way, I can hold everything in one hand while the other is free. So far, it seems to be a good fit. I'll have to try it in "the field" to see how practical it is. My biggest concern is the small amount of gimbal grip free to hold onto. I can adjust the angle of the remote to give me more room behind it and I can raise it up a bit more too.

Having previously got brackets and mazegills muddled, it was good to find the article below and look at the different stages of growth, and underneath.
Pretty sure this is a blushing bracket.... underneath were not lines, more a lot of small pores in patterns.

I came across this very dry fungus (approx. 10cm dia.) on a very dry twig. Not managed to ID it yet.

An acquaintance of mine drew my attention to this inconspicuous piece of ironmongery high up on a building on Picton Road, Liverpool. It is a bracket left over from the old catenary lighting system in the city. He used to work on the system; he recalled that the insulation was a little past its best, and a blue glow from arcing components could often be seen hovering spectrally on the cables.
He was also involved in the final dismantling of the system. The drill was, once the road below was closed and the power turned off, the cables were slackened off and then cut down. On one occasion at the junction of Picton Road and Wellington Road, my acquaintance cut through the cable without first loosening it off. Suddenly untrammelled, the cable parted with enthusiasm, shot across the road and smashed the window of the bookies opposite.
I have thus far found five brackets like this one near the Picton Road / Wellington Road junction, plus a slightly different arrangement at the actual corner itself, this last being the one of thje bookies incident. The bookies is still there too.

The remnants of Lostwithiels up semaphores provide interest as 66130 heads north east of 6C88 Parkanddillack (Treviscoe) to Exeter Riverside. Either work isn't finished or this is rationalisation at its minimum - cutting off the brackets, removing the lenses and cutting the wire.
The bearing retainer goes on next. It presses easily into place. You'll feel it snap into the groove in the cup. Removal of this is a little tricky when disassembling. I used a pick to get the first one out, but had to use needle nose pliers to get the second out. If using needle nose pliers grab one side of the retainer right next to the split and pull toward the center of the bearing cup circumference. It should come out of the groove and then you can work the rest of the retainer out.
