Bow Lake is a small lake in western Alberta, Canada. It is located on the Bow River, in the Canadian Rockies.
The lake lies south of the Bow Summit, east of the Waputik Range (views including Wapta Icefield, Bow Glacier, Bow Peak, Mount Thompson, Crowfoot Glacier and Crowfoot Mountain) and west of the Dolomite Pass, Dolomite Peak and Cirque Peak.
Bow Lake is one of the lakes that line the Icefields Parkway in Banff National Park and Jasper National Park.
The water in the lake is meltwater of the Bow Glacier and its turquoise colouring is due to glacial till.
"Across the valley, Brewster Creek empties into the Bow River. All the sand and gravel deposited by the creek has forced the river to shift it's course towards this viewpoint, creating a marshy wetland, or "backswamp" where the Bow River once flowed."

Mount Bourgeau rises on the right.
Midday shots, like this, are frowned upon. The contrasts are dramatic and can be overpowering. Many of my images are "wrong time of day" shots. I generally cover many miles daily so don't often have the luxury of planting myself waiting for the best time of day. There is just so much beauty out there to view, enjoy and capture as best one can, when one can.

A small heard of cows was being watched closely by a couple of dogs.
It was fun watching the animals react to each other... the high tide.. and also .. get vary of our presence

I am becoming a panorama freak these days. Here is another pano of Bow Bridge and The Lake with the reflections of UWS prominent buildings. Kind of a repetition but well worth it.

I haven't imagined that I am going to get such a beautiful photograph when I entered Central Park last evening. The conditions were not so encouraging when I entered the park with tons of visitors hanging on to the bridge and an equal number of photographers trying to capture their best shot.
I took a lot of pictures but it was most painful compared to any of my recent photo walks. But it all paid off when water settled in paving the way to awesome reflections with soft sunset light perfectly exposing the scene.
This is Bow Bridge, the most romantic photo spot in New York.
After a full day of shooting last fall, I drove into Banff for food. But as I was crossing the town bridge, I decided that those puffy clouds warranted a stop for one more photo

Taken on Oct 8th after an early and heavy snowstorm. The nearby ski hill was open at the bottom of the hill, a very early opening for the area. They say that Calgary has two seasons, July and winter!

I believe this to be a fern, however I am no botanist therefore I am not completely certain. This specimen was beautifully and elegantly rolled, almost resembling the bow one would give a royal.
I was lucky enough to capture this rainbow over Emsworthy Rocks at sunrise. It was bitterly cold as the incus clouds blasted our their cold winds and I got drenched but it was so worth it for such a fleeting rainbow! shared with pixbuf.com

I believe the operation of the Bowes railway in the North East has become somewhat difficult in recent years, but in 2002 it was certainly one of the best “preserved” experiences of an industrial system.
Three pictures rescued from a cull of many slides this lockdown weekend.
The black locomotive is No 22 is the only steam locomotive bought new for the Bowes Railway still to survive. She was built in 1949 by Andrew Barclay Sons and Co in Kilmarnock and carried the work number 2274.
The green locomotive is Andrew Barclay (Work Number 2361 of 1954). She was delivered to the Long Meg works of the Long Meg Plaster and Mineral Co. Ltd. at Lazonby, near Carlisle, on 10th June 1954. The locomotive was named “W.S.T.” after Mr. William Stewart Trimble, the plaster company’s Deputy Chairman.
